Hello,
First I should start off with, I am a paraplegic spyder rider and the gas cap location is one of the only problems I face with it (along with no hand brake which me and my dad added ourselves). I want to add an access to the gas cap without buying a new seat because it is very expensive. I've seen the mod where you can buy the circle gas cover and cut a hole in the seat, but I had another idea and wondered if anyone else had tried it or if anyone thinks it will or wont work. Me and my dad thought we could cut through the plastic part of the seat where it covers the gas cap and then screw hinges to the plastic and then just fold it over to access the fuel cap.
Thanks in advance for any replys.

I believe I have read or heard about someone doing that. I have an offer for you. If you do this and it does not work out and now you are in need of a new seat I have an extra one that l will sell you just for the cost of shipping. Anyway I hope that you get something figured out.

I have seen photos of someone that did that.

A friend of mine did this. He did not have to do a hinge, the seat cover worked without needing anything else. He used velcro to keep the area closed off after refueling.

and to answer your other question, there is a hand brake available as an aftermarket part. It is not considered to be the primary stopping force but adds to the foot brake. ISCI makes it.

We ended up not using hinges. We used two heavy duty zip-ties to hold it in place and the cushion and cover are enough to spring it back into place.

I seen the hand brake by ISCI but the price is crazy! Me and my dad made one ourselves using a cable

You commented on enjoying life, and at the end claiming that it been one heck of a ride. There's a couple riders I noted in the Forum who plan on taking their Soyders on a ten day road trip encompassing all lower 48 states and Alaska, in 10 days. That would be quite the ride as well, but not one I'm up for. Barely enough time on such a ride to change your mind.
