Bar Ends/Anti Vibe from BRP

This isn't a huge deal, but I thought I'd share this very simple install...

I had ordered some bar ends ("anti-vibe kit") from BRP a while ago, but they didn't come in until after we got back from the banner run in Niagara Falls.

As I recall, Director had thought they made a difference for him, but when we met up with Bossman, he didn't notice any change after installation. :dontknow:

I went to put them on, but forgot that the length was intended for stock bars, and I had put on NMN's 3" risers. The depth of the replacement bars with the risers is shorter.

I zipped down to my daughter's machine shop at school, and used their nice bandsaw to cut the bar weights down to 2 1/2 inches including the insert cap. The waste part had a groove with an O-ring, but I think the shorter bar end will hold fine with only the one O-ring, which expands when you tighten the allen screw on the cap insert. If not, I can cut a new groove or even cheat with some silicone...

Sorry for the angle on these pics. Just rotate your head (or your laptop) 90 degrees CCW and you'll have a better sense.

Just be careful if you get these: I found a 2mm (tiny!) set screw laying on my seat after I came home from cutting the bar ends. It was for the decorative endcap (with the Y logo) and had fallen out of the packaging. There's no way I had a spare one of those laying around if I had lost it or inhaled it.

So, it's not as much weight in them with the shortened anti-vibe kit, but it's still more than stock. I got a good deal on them anyhow, so now I am off for a test ryde to see if they do anything...or fall out... :thumbup:

I had a coworker who had a rowdy friend. The rowdy friend didn't show up one time at a party, and my coworker said "he was distinct by his absence."

That's how I felt about handlebar vibration with the bar end weights. Again, I cut mine down (go ahead, HDX and bjt, I left myself wide open) so they are a bit lighter, but the lack of vibration is noticeable.

I kept thinking whether it was just in my mind, so I had to keep concentrating on the purpose of the test ryde. (What am I supposed to be checking? Oh yeah...handlebar vibration--nope.)

I only have Grip Puppies (OK, RoadDog, I'll get you one if you promise to feed him and walk him...) over stock grips, and I only got it up to 65mph, but there was a difference at every speed up to that.

Anything less than MSRP is good to me!

All I meant was that most dealers give a 10% (or more) discount on accessories if you bought the vehicle from them--which I still appreciate-- and sometimes give you additional breaks on larger purchases.

No secret here, BRPJunkie--I say support your dealer if he's fair to you, which mine has always been. He was even welcoming when I gave him a bunch of No Magic Neon (http://www.nomagicneon.com/) brochures. (Who knows Ev & Pat--maybe he'll start stocking your stuff so I don't have to wait 20 whole hours to have it delivered from you to my doorstep! :joke:

The bar end weights worked well for me. My "test" was to ride the Spyder without my gel-insert gloves. A noticeable lack of vibration, which is nice, but I'll still wear the gloves!

I had the BRP bar ends put in by the dealer last week. Could tell the difference immediately. With having the Heli Bar riser and not the MNM risers that call for cutting the handlebars, I was able to use the full bar end. Maybe that doesn't make such a big difference. Just describing the actual mod on my Spyder.

You mentioned the Iso Grips - the bar ends won't work with them, unless you cut the end off of the grips...
