Just bought a new helmet - an LS2 FF325 Modular Helmet - but haven't used it yet. In looking thru a couple of Youtube vids about it, I came across this one which mentions that it's "pinblock-ready" (at the 30-second mark).

I'm just getting back into riding after many years, so helmets have come a long way from what I remember. So, can anyone explain to me what "pin-block ready" means, and what they do? The helmet came with 2 small white plastic "pins" already in the face shield as shown in the video, plus two more little plastic pieces in a zip lock bag. Is the face shield good to go as is? Or do those two little pieces in the ziplock bag need to be installed? (If so, how is that done? And what would it accomplish?)

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm a bit confused right now.

Thanks!

Those pins are where you can attach a thin extra "shield". it also creates a dead-air space between itself, and the original one... instant thermopane windows! :2thumbs:

Pinlock visor inserts are flexible transparent plastic inserts which are placed inside the inner surface of your visor. The main visor itself has to be ‘Pinlock enabled’, meaning it needs to have tiny Pinlock locating posts already on the inside of the visor. These are used by the Pinlock visor insert to locate the Pinlock into the correct position and keep it there.

If you google it you will find that the extra plastic parts are for the use of a fog control for those times your visablily becomes impaired. Your helmet it ready to use but if your shield gets fogging a lot you can add the fog shield...:thumbup:

newbert, I think it should be "pinlock", which consists of 2 tabs (pins) on the inside of the face shield, to which you can attach various tinted or not pieces to the inside of the clear face shield. These are to help with visibility because of sun, and some help with fogging. I have yet to find a need for any of these on my shield. There is a drop down tinted sun shield
on in helmet if I need more filtering of sun light.
BTW: I also use a PS2 modular helmet (FF286) that I have had for about 1.5 years. It is very comfortable, I really like the ratchet lock chin strap, much easier than the DD (double D)
type of strap!! Also this helmet is much quieter than the HJC modular I used previously.

Ride safe!!!!:yes::yes:

I think the pinlocks are an anti-fogging device. IT WORKS. My LS2 has never fogged but the pinlocks are/ were not included in the price of the helmet.

Watch the LS 2 Video on RevZilla and that might help you out.
