So I saw LaMont's video but that hasn't helped. I've about busted a gut to get this thing to release. Is there another secret to remove this thing so I can replace it with a stubby?
Thanks

Take a razor knife and cut the rubber vertically about a 1/2". Twist the antenna clockwise and pull up at the same time. When the spring comes off then remove the base.

Thanks!

Dang! I removed the rubber boot and pulled for all I'm worth while turning clockwise. Not a budge!! This is nuts!!

Neal--I finally gave up on the spring :banghead:. And pried up the rubber boot enough to get a 8mm under the rubber and unscrew the antenna off the base. There is lots of lock tite on there. Hope this helps.

That's what I'm going to do. Either that or head straight to the power tools. I'm thinking of skipping the Dremel on going directly to the chainsaw.

I do these install all the time and what I told you should take it right off. The spring gets loose when you tighten it as if you were screwing in the bolt. :dontknow:

The man speaks the truth, took me 15 seconds to replace TxSpyderGirl's antenna with his instructions.

What an idiotic way to attach an antenna. Add it to my list of sub-par engineering solutions on the F3-T.

I cut my antenna off near the base. I used an 8mm socket to take off the rest. Then I put on the short antenna that I ordered off eBay. Haven't really checked the reception yet, because I usually listen to my media player. But I got it done!
