Last May, I bought my 2013 ST Limited from a Harley dealer. It had 1700 miles on it at the time. Since joining this site, I have seen upgraded side panels mentioned. How do I know if mine have been updated and if not how do I obtain them. Before and after photos would be helpful. Thank you for your input.
Hope to meet some of you in Deadwood in July!

Talk to your local CanAm dealer. Side panels for the 2013 ST are a goodwill offering from CanAm
The side panels can be ordered and installed by the dealer at no cost to you.

If I were you Dusty, I would get onto this right away. Well worth it.

I just got off the phone with my dealer, he is going to call brp and said it may take 2 days for him to hear back. Sounds like it will be a painless operation.

How much did that set you back and did it make a difference? Thanks. I own the same machine without the new sides.

Told me the recall only for the rt version.

It was not a recall. It was a good will offer. Read the past posts about the subject. You tell your dealer that the excessive heat is bothering you. The dealer tells BRP. BRP will authorize the new panels free to you, and pay the dealer to put them on. You just have to do your homework and then educate your dealer. They can't know everything.
Good Luck,
Roger

Congratulations, this isn't good to hear after all of the BRP bashing that we hear, thanks for posting it, especially when you consider that this is a three or four year old model!

We had Can Am put the 2013 recall scoops on our 2012 under this act of good will. My wife told them the heat at the front of the seat was unbearable.

You are talking about two different things. The ST and RT panels are not the same, but BRP has replaced both in the past. Read the past posts and you will learn all about it.

Good Luck,
Roger

Never said they were the same but I had the 2013 recall scoops put on my 2012RT for free.

Did it make a difference- Yes. Comfort, fuel boiled less, less bits under the Tupperware fried.

Cost - I am in Australia and got the first replacement panels here - only cos I gave all part number info from this site to the brp fellow in Sydney head office, and convinced him the panels actually existed. I voluntarily paid the air freight component. Brp paid the rest.

Joe I missed the call from my dealer, which is Caswell Cycle in Mora, MN. Thankfully he called me back letting me know my new side panels are in and we set an appt for next week to have them installed while I wait. Can't say enough good things about Les and his crew at Caswell Cycle!

I just got mine completed the other day. The dealership that I bought mine from (pre-owned 2013) contacted Can Am for me and got everything approved at no cost to me. Not only does it look better but I can actually feel the heat coming out of the vents in the new panels. I'm so glad I learned about the fix on this forum. All that heat used to be trapped inside!

New panels installed on wed, they look awewsome but unfortunately with all the rain we have had I haven't ridden it yet. Can't wait to check the temp gauge and see if it makes a difference.
