Here is a simple and easy way to add a gas door to a stock seat. This fix only took a couple of hours.

Did you just cut a notch in the bodywork for the latching mechanism to hook into? :dontknow:

Excellent More information on how you did it would be appreciated. This looks better (to me) than adding a actual fuel door.

Much more sleek look than a fuel door. Can you share you hinge details as I know someone that plans to mod his seat with a fuel door but want him to see this first.

Hi Dave here, I sure wish I would have come up with this idea but it wasn't me it was another spider owner, and since I saw this I have probably done 50 or more just like it never put a lock on it though never felt the need but I don't see why you couldn't do it you got one right there, great job sure beats that big round ugly door that looks like it came off the truck and actually that's where they come from and your passenger don't have to get off to put gas in and the best part it's free and easy to do yourself.👍

Looks good.
I just wonder about the longevity of the seat material used as a hinge.
Does it crack and break over time ?

Bob if you look at the second photo you can see where he cut an window in the Tupperware.

Not likely, However I always back mine up under the foam
with a section of seatbelt material because it is strong
and takes the wear insted of the upholstery.

.Well the seat itself gets a lot of flexing so it is very strong stuff ...... However when used as that HINGE is ..... it is being flexed to the EXTREME .......and that may make a difference ......................... To those who don't like a HUGH gas door ..... you can put in the smaller version ( 5 inch ) that is meant for the GS / RS / ST type seats ...... jmho .... Mike
