I recently purchased a 2016 RT-S and at the time of purchase, the dealership (who I do trust and have good relations with), mentioned a 600 mile initial servicing. After some research, I am finding that the 1330s do not require the 600 mile servicing, at least from what I can find online, it only requires first oil change and service at 3100 miles...can anybody add some clarification on this for me? Thank you in advance for any clarity you can provide.

whomever told you that, has their head back in the 990's.....
3000 miles is the 1st check-up for the 1330's....
good luck with your new toy.....

:agree: Another dealer that does not know the correct information about what they are selling. :yikes::yikes:

990's first service at about 600 miles and then at 4,500 miles. 1330's first service at about 3,000 then at 12,500 miles (9,500 miles later) OR once a year, whichever comes first.

You did well by doing some research.:bowdown:

:congrats: on your new 1330.

Here's from the maintenance schedule:
"EVERY 15 000KM (9,300MI) OR 1 YEAR (WHICHEVER COMES FIRST)." So the second time you change oil the odometer should have 12,300 miles on it.

Thanks for the quick replies, I really appreciate it...just wanted a sanity check from some resident experts to make sure what I was reading online was accurate. I have ridden for years, but this my first Spyder, really enjoying it so far. Definitely a unique experience and an awesome time on the road!

:congrats:....:welcome:.... ok the niceties are done ..... Have you thought about reading the Owner's manual , YET. :dontknow:..... That would be a good start. As far as trusting that DEALER - well maybe you should re-consider that ...... If they don't know the difference between the 990 series engine and the 1330 :lecturef_smilie:..... that imho is not a good sign...... Also find the Thread " Do's and Do not's " for Spyders ...... lots of very helpful stuff there ...... good luck and ride safe :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: ...... Mike :bbq:

My operator's guide says after the 600 mile break=in period the vehicle should be inspected as per MAINTENANCE SCEDULE. But when you go to the schedule it shows the first inspection at 3000 miles. :banghead::banghead:

I have read the manual and reference it regularly. The manual and the internet were both saying 3000 miles, but the dealership for some reason said it needed a 600 mile service, which I have come to find out is not for the 1330. I plan on asking them about it to see what the deal is. I am hoping it is because their associates are not familiar with the Spyders and they only have a specialist for the Spyders that comes in during the week...but it may be time to look elsewhere for service.

Having the dealer perform the first service at 3K miles is a good idea so they can go over everything. Once done, if you are the slightest bit mechanical you can save some dough and get to know your machine by doing your own oil changes. Shawn Smoak's video at this link is a very good tutorial.

3300 on my 14. Then did service.
5k miles later had it changed at our sons all purpose bike shop (68$) can you blame me😎
When I'm up N may do it again at 4k for that price!

Dont know if I wi ever go full milage between changes but from performance-oriented feel of bike - and smell of oil and 0 loss of oil I would not be worried about it to go full Monty
