My scoot is out of pocket for the moment and so is my manual which brings
me to the question of my rear tire size and what is a better and maybe taller
tire that will fit without hitting anything and not cause the nanny to go crazy?
Feel free to jump in here with thoughts/experience!!

All Spyders rear tires have been 225/50-15 for all years ....... UNLESS someone with an F-3 says otherwise,( as far as size of 225/60-15 ) most folks have switched to Car tires in this range 215/60-15 ....or 205/60-15 ...... 195/60-15 ..... very few people use the 195 size...... As far as performance and quality ..... General Altimax RT43 ........ Michelin Primacy ....... Pirelli Four Seasons Plus ..... in that order ...... Mike

I use a KUHMO Ecsta 225/50 15 rear
Fronts Federal Formoza AZ01 165/55 R15
Happy with both.

That is also the combo that I use on my 2014 RT, and I love it:thumbup:.

from the above...most have gone to the higher profile in the car tires only cause they do not offer the oem size. If you go too tall by removing the fender etc you could upset the nanny and your speedometer...Just out of curiosity...why are you looking for a taller tire...???:dontknow:

:agree: Why go taller, and start tempting Nanny? :yikes:

Happy with both. This is EXACTLY what I am planning to do when mine wear out. Excellent to hear someone saying they work well together! Don't wanna thread jack but anyone out there running the Ecsta AST rear with KH-17/16 fronts?

AST 225/50R15 and Solus KH16 175/55r15... on 2 of our bikes. Very happy, better handling than the Kenda.... and guess what ? ....they last more than a season. !!!!!!😀

Now that one has been upgraded/changed to a F3T we may try some of the other combos. Have been very happy with the tire life and smooth rolling on the Kumhos.. 2-3 times the life of a Kenda.

Going with a slightly taller tire will reduce rpm at all speeds and
should make the speedo more accurate. Also should give slightly
better traction because of gear ratio change.

My brain if I have one now hurts after reading 20 to 30 threads on rear tire replacement suggestion. I am looking at replacing my rear on my RT and have a question on size before I order. I have been seeing 215/60R15, 205/55R15 and the original 225/50R15, but above you listed a 205/60R15......is that because it is the F-3. It also appears the Kumho didn't make the list. Currently I am leaning toward the General. I need to get this tire and get rid of this Nor-Easter so we can ride and relax this brain now.......Lanny
