I have a 2012 RTL that has the hitch and wiring harness (4 pin). I bought a Cyclemate trailer (4 flat) and would like to change the male end on the trailer. I believe this would be the easiest. Where would I buy the end and is this the best approach?

I assume your trailer plug is a square 4. https://www.amazon.com/Hopkins-11147975-Pole-Square-Set/dp/B004BE60ZU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1488034431&sr=8-1&keywords=hopkins+square+4

It is a 4 round. I expected to see a 4 square.

After looking at the female receptacle it shouldn't be difficult to find a plug. Should have looked closer before I posted.:sour:

When I had my trailers adapted, I took both to hitch world and they made an adapter for $15. Very easy. If you needed a square four and they don't have one, simply cut in 2x2, fold and tape - WALA - a square four

The standard BRP trailer harness is a square 4. So that means it was changed to a round 4 or it's not a BRP harness.

I was surprised it wasn't 4 square. I saw it was 4 pins in a square, had read the standard was a square plug but didn't look at the shape of the socket. I hope it doesn't create any problems. Guess I'll find out when I hook it up!
