I'm not sure if this is a fashion or a function question for the guys? I went for a short ride today which made me think of it. During the summer, do you wear a bandana or head wrap under your helmet or do you just throw on a ball cap if you break for lunch or make a stop? I go the ball cap route but I may try a head wrap this year.

Nothing under the helmet for me. I carry a couple ball caps in the trunk. That's what works for me.

Carry a couple ball caps to wear when the helmet comes off if I remember.

I always wear a cool silk skull cap. This helps keep the helmet liner cleaner longer along with smelling better.

Good Luck

I have several skull caps and helmet liners that I rotate through under the helmet. When I stop for lunch or an extended break, those come off and the ball cap is put on

A helmet liner, do rag, or anything under the helmet is to keep the helmet cleaner, and the head more comfortable. Remove when helmet comes off to allow to dry. Hairdo, hats, combs, brushes, all for appearance. I get wild helmet hair, so I just go with it! My follically challenged friends are the ones with ball caps!!

I have no hair to mess up, so I usually wear nothing under the helmet, and no hat. But I do keep a hat handy in case I am going to be in the sun too long. Don't want the bald head to get sun burned.
I have thought about going with a helmet liner this coming season though since I tend to sweet a lot.

Heat out Helmet liner in the Summer. Balaclava in the winter and bal cap in the saddle bag for when the helmet comes off. I have just enough hair to look really bad when that helmet comes, and not enough hair to protect my nogan from sun burn. :banghead:

I wear a LDComfort skull cap under my helmet. Keeps my helmet clean and not so smelly. Used mine for a couple of years now, with the price of helmet now days you need to protect them as much as possible.

Same here. No way a properly fitting helmet will fit over a baseball cap. Not even a half helmet, which I wouldn't wear anyhow.

Oops, read it wrong. I was thinking this:
http://xlforum.net/photopost/watermark.php?file=58477&size=1 (http://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjI-eKdn-3RAhXEKiYKHf8vCl0QjRwIBw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fxlforum.net%2Fvbportal%2Fforums%2 Fshowthread.php%3Ft%3D1038940%26page%3D3&bvm=bv.145822982,d.amc&psig=AFQjCNFle9BtReW7_5sMWyJ-WQi1qvxlZw&ust=1485981637744906)

But, if you want to consolidate, and look like an idiot:

Naked under the helmet. Because I'm also a large format photographer when I stop, if I need a hat it's a Tilly. If I have to explain, you would not understand.

That may be a paper towel holder. But I don't understand why it would be mounted so high, either. :dontknow: Wassup, Bob? (Besides the paper roll?)

The backwards ball cap does look goofy but I bet it does a good job of keeping the sun off your neck. Certainly a function over fashion statement.

Same for me, and a ball cap when the helmet is taken off if out in the sun for a long time.

I will keep my ball cap on backwards when fishing, but only then to protect the back of my neck.

Bob,

I got mine at REI. Don't know if you have one near you. You could find them almost anywhere you find outdoor wear, camping , fishing etc. if not just go to Amazon.com and search Tilley Hats. You can google them and come up with some local retailers too. You Can wad it up and put it in the Frunk and pull it out and it snaps back into shape. Throw it in the washer, pull it out and let it dry (not in the dryer) it drys in about an hour and looks brand new. You will love it! Found their Web-Site Tilley.com. The best part, they are made in the same country that your motorcycle was made it. They have an office in Orchard Park NY.
