SawStop has been around for a number of years. I actually saw a demonstration of one, and it really does work. I wish it had been around when I amputated 3 fingers on a table saw.

I have worked/owned a cabinet shop for over 35 years...still have all my extremities intact... one thing you have to remember ... EVERY TOOL IN A WOODWORKING SHOP WILL HURT/CRIPPLE YOU... before using any woodworking machinery...... be darn sure the path of a cutting tool does not cross the path of your fingers..
make jigs to insure safety... use power feeders when possible... wear safety glasses at ALL times .. hearing protection should always be used also..
Accidents happen... but... planning ahead & knowing how the machinery operates is advisable ...
