Most hardware stores and home improvement centers carry wire cable and cable fittings.

Have a spare key cut without the chip and hide that on bike.
or:
If you have the power trunk option you can hide a momentary switch tied to 12v and the solenoid release.

This was done on a GS/RS. The latch is entirely different on the RT, and this method does not apply.

Why couldn't you use some plain plastic tubing with some picture hanging wire running through it?

Any locksmith can cut you a key to open rear and front compartment
