I just pulled up the forecast for my area on Intellicast, and it's looking hopeful!

Those torrential downpours are what I HOPE will wash all of the salt and mud off of the roads...

It's been awesome here in southern WI, but reality returns by late this coming week. On the bright side though, anymore snow that comes will melt pretty fast now that most of the frost is out of the ground. Gotta love the warm Feb sunshine but we need some rain to clean things up a bit.

    Default Really...🤔

You must not be in one of those areas where the weather changes every 10 minutes... but fingers crossed that it will hold.....

It was over 70 and sunny yesterday, so I washed the Spyder so I could ride it today. And I did ride it to church this morning, but it was overcast and cooler. But the high today is predicted to be 74. But on Friday we've got a slight chance of rain/snow mix!

I put a 100 miles on yesterday. Saw a sure sign of spring. A 2 wheeler splitting 2 lanes of oncoming traffic with the police in pursuit.

I put 100 miles on the Spyder Friday and was completely comfortable. That's usually unheard of here in Minnesota in the middle of February. It was nearly 60 degrees, sunny and no wind. I drove around the lakes checking where everyone is ice fishing.

Incredible here in southern MI, too! 70 and full sun, which we haven't had in months. I put a couple hours on the ATV yesterday, wishing like hell I could saddle up the Spyder, but our dirt roads out of here were still slithery soup. But, overnight, they dried juuuust enough for me to wake up Spyke and get her out!!! YEEEEHAWWWW!!! Did 70 miles today, and it felt SOOOOO danged good!!!

Our Town's Highway Superintendent found something new to put on the roads this year... and it's not pretty! It's like a finely crushed gray stone material. It'll give you GREAT traction when the chips are down, but WOW! It is so heavy, that it's almost impossible to wash it off of the driveway, when it comes off of your vehicle after a washing...
I'll get a picture of it, and see if you can tell me what this stuff is.

EDIT: Here's a shot of it. It looks like concrete dust...

Nice little short jaunt in Iowa, easily put 100 miles on her. I'll take it, 70 degrees in Iowa in February. Hopefully it sticks around, might be the s word in the forecast this weekend.

It looks like stone dust, or 1-B's or Dirty B's [same thing], it's a byproduct from crushing stone and an alternative to sand. I have this week off, I have to get out thu. for a ride. I'm only 1/8 mile from rte. 30 and all the traffic has blown most of the salt away, I think it should be OK to take a short one.

Do you hit Route 30 North of Route 28?

The salt and brine wash away much quicker than this stuff does; you should be okay.
