    Default WTB BRP Sports Rack

Hi, from SW PA. Been a long time 2 wheel motorcycle rider, but brand new to the 3 wheel type. While the snow is still flying thought I would starting looking for a few add-ons for my new to me Spyder RS. First on my list is a sports rack. Plan is to mount a top box for my day trips. I've found new on ebay, but would like to see if someone has a used unit first before I pull the trigger on the auction site. Thanks for looking.

Good luck there FYI I just snagged a topcase on eBay myself & found the sports rack 2yr ago wrong color but intend to modify & powdercoat anyway just gotta stay within your limits & find right deal. Few dealers will clear out old stock & then you get new at used price no warranty other than listed in discription but you'll figure it out.

THAT is hard, notice I've had rack for 2 yr & just bought top case . Luckily I found alternatives & even now the case is for experimental ideas find out what works best for me. Very well may end up keeping why I got & selling it. The sports rack is staying however, already has some modifications & only good on my set up.

It will be easier wait while it's not in your hands FYI the top case I mentioned came in just today so now I get to see if & how I want to use, compared to my current set-up.

Thanks for the youtube video, watched it a couple times, I'm ready now. I read the info at the link you provided, surprised me that can am would make such a weak link. I believe they once had a backrest that fit in place of the sport rack lid. How did those arms holdup with torsional forces applied to them...scary. Wouldn't want to be a passenger leaning back against the backrest when/if they broke.

    np thx for good thread
The backrest post are thicker (take good look as the rest is put on end of vid, vs thickness shown on just the lid in the thread) I found out but the ones for just the lid are fuctional & that's about it. Plus that was older thread I've tried contacting op for update with no luck, np as part of my project & my general tinkering I'm willing to try & beef up the arms for locking pin
hope all works out & we get to meet sometime

I have had a Givi Maxia 52 litre top box bolted to my sport rack cover for many years. Nothing has broken & many times the Maxia box has been overloaded. I no longer worry about its security but do remove the sport rack cover + Givi box from time to time to see if all is ok.

Check that the 2 spring clips that locate the fixing rod are on as far as they will go. I had one fall off when I did the initial installation.
