Default I moved the Evap Can on her 2011

So, I tried the canisterectomy and that helped some, but there were still fumes coming out and some drips could be seen. So, I am trying something different. Since I removed the airbox and put in JT's new filter, there is a lot of room up front. I put the canister back in, extended the purge and tank hoses and rerouted the stock vent hose. The canister is higher than the stock position, but only part of it is above the tank, however the hoses all run high and then drop into the canister. This will give them a cooler route and hopefully prevent any drips and if any of the fumes condense, hopefully it will be in the hoses and run back into the tank. See pics below. We should be able to get a good ride in tomorrow so I can see if it will work or not.

The first pic shows the canister now located by the coolant overflow tank. The second and third show the routing of the hoses.

    Hmmm nice idea.
I see where you put the purge valve and added the filters but I can tell where you mounted the canister? Maybe I am missing it?
I bet this will work perfectly!

OK never mind. I downloaded the pictures and zoomed them. I see the canister is in the normal place.
Anyway I think this will fix you! Let us know how it goes.

The canister is tied up right by the coolant overflow tank. The stock spot on mine was on the right side of the engine pretty close to the exhaust pipe.

OK I looked again... Now I see where it is. I was looking at the wrong thing. It's hard to see in the pic.
Did you just zip tie it there or something?

Those plastic filters in a confined hot space scare me.

The canister looks in a nice place, far from both pipes, can't tell how far from the front exhaust outlet though...

Yep, just zip tied in there. It was sort of tricky as there wasn't much to mount it on or tie it to and it was too late at night to try to think of something to fabricate.

It is pretty far away from the front exhaust.

We hope to get out and ride later today to see if it works.

Just got back after a good long ride... Mine has the canisterectomy, hers I moved forward to the cooler spot.

Now that we have parked, both have fumes coming out and both have drips. So basically, it doesn't matter if you have the canister or not, it's gonna put off fumes and drip apparently.

The only thing we didn't;t do was gas up before coming home to cool the tank and it's contents down. I will watch them for a while to see if one is better than the other, but I am not hopeful.

Thanks. I was really hoping it would work. I can say that it did help keep her from smelling fumes while riding. I could smell them very frequently. She didn't really smell anything except towards the very end of the ride.

Next up, I guess try to reduce heat transfer to the tank. We will likely do the cat delete, but that will be later this fall I am guessing.

Hopefully someone else will be able to come up with something that will eliminate the smell and dripping.

Odd thing is, after sitting now about 1/2 hour, mine (with no canister at all) appeared to be done fuming and dripping while hers still have a little of both coming out.

Where the fuel filters you put in wet?
If not then something else is going on!

    Default evap

so basically what is being said -- the evap and or lack of it -- has no effect at all on the gas smell/dripping-- the issue is again getting the tank cooler -- removing the air box assy possibly to help-- wrapping tank -- what a pain the BRP doesnt address this issue on prior 2014's!!

I don't know if the fuel filters were wet at all... I will have to pull the panels off next time after we get done riding to see.

I still have the airbox in mine, but we put JT's air filter in hers and I added an Attwood blower and intake duct to hers too. The blower is on a thermostat switch that comes on pretty early like around 100 degrees ish...

Her bike does run cooler than mine comfortwise.
