    Default Run Flat tires

Anyone put run flat tires on their Spyder? They have really stiff sidewalls and might help with the handling problems in addition to keeping you from being stranded! I'm probably putting one on the rear when mine wears out.

Personally, I would go with Ride-On in the tires, a laser alignment and Baja Ron's swaybar.

U;ve never looked at the possibility...
Are they available in the correct size?
Does a run-flat tire reauire a different type of wheel?

It's an awesome idea for the spyder IMHO and I would for sure go run flats. However, while it doesn't require any special wheel, there are no current sizes that fit our application last I checked.

They are available in the rear tire size. I didn't check on the front. The rear is where you need it the most anyway. They do not require a special rim. The first generation did.

Default How many flats have you had..!!

does the added cost make it worth while. Cars and motorcycles tend to have more flats cause the front tires flip screws and nails up and the rear wheels run over them. Roadster rear wheel is not in line with the front wheels. I personally have not seen any flats with those we ryde with. I carry a plug kit and compressor because there is always that chance. I like the tires I use and the comfort and handling will change even more that a 4ply...

absolutely do not mix run flat & regular tires on any vehicle & i would not recommend rft for a bike, they are way too
stiff & you will feel every bump plus they have a much higher rate of getting a bubble & bending/cracking the wheels.

The Missus has them on her MINI, and they caution against mixing them with conventional tires...

I would never put run flats on the Spyders or any other car that I own. The ride is horrendous and you feel and hear every ripple in the road. Two of the sport cars I have had came with them. Never again.

If you think you have alignment problems now wait until you install run flats. Leave those for the homies and the customizers.

    Cool Ride quality

As previously posted the quality of the ride has got to go down the tube with the sidewall stiffness t support the weight of a 3,000 # automobile versus a 900 # Spyder.. It should rank right up there as comparing fork lift solid rubber to a 8 ply 900x20 truck tire.

If you want to do it try it but be sure to post your experiment results for sharing knowledge

Have them on my Corvette - over 100,000 miles on two sets with no problems and no complaints!

Thanks, it was a great trip, saw lots and saw a lot that we want to go back and spend more time at. Just about 16,000 miles in 71 days.
