These things don't have the resale value that you would think. I put my well farkled 2015 rtl on the market last August and started at 25k. 9 months later I was glad to get 19k for it with close to 4 grand in farkles still on it.

I got $17k trade in back in January for my '14 RTL. Trade in at the time was $16,100.

You guys are funny, you purchased a depreciating asset in what appears to be a stagnat or worse market segment and have concerns about the resale value.

Perhaps you have more experience with memories of the "Good old HD days" when you bought it and rode for three years and got your money back at the end. Well, those days are gone, my HD friends are all irritated and screaming about high cost and low returns, some cannot even get rid of a bike or two extra that they have parked in the garage.

The boom is over, but hey, the economy is improving, people are getting back to work, maybe it will turn around!

More good news, this conversation turn keeps this guys advertisement high on the board.

That is why I have always chosen to purchase around the time that the new models are coming out. I saved $5500 on my RT and $5000 on my F3T. That allowed me to be in a better position when I decide to sell. I may not be the first on my block to get one of the new toys, but I can just smile when I get the same thing about 5 months later, with an extra $5k in my pocket.
To the OP, good luck with your sale. You are in the ball park now as to what your bike should bring. Hope it sells soon.

I think that @a handful of dealers in certain cities, the depreciation(annual sell off) of 2017s is already underway.

Default Farkles add to resale value?

I can attest to the fact that farkles do not add to the resale value. Had a tricked out, Mica Blue Metallic Mazda Miata with the tan top, and added Kenne Bell intercooled supercharger. (1) the insurance company only valued it at the KBB price as a stock Miata, and (2) the dealership where it was traded in, only gave me the value of a 2002 Mazda Miata. The farkles add to your pleasure, comfort, and satisfaction, but are not likely what the next potential buyer may want or need.
