To laugh or not to laugh..... Oil Change/service pricing!
Today I took my 2015 F3-S to the local dealer for the 3000 mile service. Since it's basically a "change the oil and look it over" service, I estimated a couple of hours, which proved to be accurate. Looking over the bill it began with "Job: Complimentary Vehicle Multi-Point Inspection"...Cost $0.00
Then it said: "Job: 3000 Mile Service; MY 2014 up Spyder...."
Parts: Oil, filter, O-rings, $133.69,
Labor: (which included the point-by-point of the complimentary look over) $190.00,
Total $323.69.
I trust that the inspection was dutifully carried out and am glad to know that nothing was amiss. But if the "complimentary vehicle multi-point inspection" was indeed complimentary, then that's a hell of a lot to charge for an oil change, and it's not really a laughing matter.
Baja Ron will supply the materials for the next oil change, which will be carried out in the comfort and convenience of my home shop where the labor is loving and free.

HERE'S ANOTHER ONE!
My dealer charged me $400 for the 3000 mile inspection and oil change and I provided the oil and filter!! They charge $130 per hour. They did the service in 2 1/4 hrs and still charged me for 3 hours! 😡 Never again will a dealer work on my F3-S unless it's warranty work.

They should have left off the "freebie" information. Not necessary to needlessly PO a customer.
When my Spyder needs it 3k check-up I'm going back to Pitbull's or Spyderpops.

Do you own 2014 if not then don't pay them. Your 2015 F3 is complimentary.

Ah Yes.....
The complimentary part is the once over to see if all the oem parts it came with are still there...They charge extra to see if they still work. but now that the first service is now done you can make your own price...

Had mine done today, just over 300. Still hurts knowing that is basically just to change the oil and plug in the buds. First time I have ever had someone change my oil that wasn't free.

Would it help if you took the plastic off yourself? I'd sure try it to save a few $$$

Seems like some of the dealers are really taking advantage of their customers. I never felt I was being taken advantage of at my dealer.
I was just in two weeks ago for...
~ 3,000 mile first service
~ laser alignment
~ chassis reinforcement
~ state inspection
total bill was $246.41.

Think of it like our National Health Care System that we now enjoy in the USofA. It is free, it will save everyone money, it will take me 2 months to see a neurologist for the pinched nerve in my neck, another 2 months to do a test, who know when for a solution. But hey, it is free or maybe $350 for the consult, $875 for the 30 minute test and I got nothing. Not even the kiss. You wait until you get to the 15,000 mile check it is a doosey and no it is not free.

They both are excellent to deal with, from sales, to parts, to service. All the way around, they are great. I won't go anywhere else for anything related to BRP products. They went to bat for me when there was an issue with my F3 when I originally purchased it. (nothing they did, it had to do with the transmission control module, a known issue now).

My first service on my 2015 RTS was just under $300.00. The dealer had just gone up on their hourly rates from $75.00 to $90.00 per hour. Still thought it was reasonable. But I will be doing my next service myself as far as oil & filter changes. Surely it can't be that hard.

All of that was done for $246.41? 3000 mile service at my dealer was over $300, the laser alignment at another dealer is going to cost an additional $150. What's the chassis reinforcement?

What was the trans issue, was it a hydraulic housing assembly?

I am finding out that owning a Spyder is like owning a Porsche. Everything from accessories to labor is expensive. My dealership should have a sign when you walk through the door that says "Bend over and touch your toes! It's going to hurt!"

Yes, all of that was done for a total cost of $246.41. The chassis reinforcement affects all 2015 F3 & F3-S. The rear shock mounting point at the top where it attaches to the frame has the potential to crack the frame. So they came out with a chassis reinforcement fix to prevent any cracking from happening. The chassis reinforcement shouldn't cost you a dime, it is a safety campaign being done by BRP. Check out the following thread for all the info.

Apparently there were some units that came through with debris in the transmission control module. There is a warranty/safety campaign out on it. The dealer checks the module and replaces it as necessary. If you call your dealer and give them your VIN they should be able to look up if yours is affected by it. Not sure if it affects all the F3 models. Mine is a 2015 F3-S SE6.
