***Elka shock owners please advise***
I'm ready to pull the plug and by new Elka shocks. My question is:
1. Does anyone use the shock relocators with them, is it necessary and is there a difference in handling?
2. When having both units did everyone get a laser alignment after the change?
3. If just installing the shock do you need an alignment?
4. If I have the relocators already should I remove them and just use the new shocks?
5. What do laser alignments go for price wise?
Sorry for the questions but I need to know from the veterans....
Thanks Andy

i have the elkas and i love them, they made a big difference. i hat the laser alignment done when the shocks were installed but never used the re-locators. after the alignment make sure you have your steering zeroed out. if you a large person like me call elka and ask them what type of shock you need, they used a spring for mine rated at 400 pounds. no extra charge. also if you install them yourself remember the fill valve on the shock goes on the top

When I got my bike laser aligned a year ago I asked them that question since I knew I was changing the shocks.
They told me it wouldn't effect it.
When I changed the shocks I noticed it did not steer the same anymore.
I brought it back for an alignment and it was off.
I don't know if it's because of the shocks or the tire was off.
The price of the alignment is around $130. I think

2011 RS-S SE5:
What is the average life span of the OEM suspension components? At 20,000 miles, it seems the rebound damping is gone from the rear shock.

The rebound on the rear shock is a joke. I replaced my rear spring with an 1,100 pound spring and it was one of the best mods I have done

elkas
I see a load of RT owners bragging on the elkas and reloacators this is a GS he has
I was told by a member to grab up NEW unused RT factory shocks which I got for about $100 that were being taken off to place elkas on at the dealership and since the weight difference in the GS and the RT is over 300 pounds more weight
it made my GS rock solid in the corners on a setting of 3
have 66k miles placed these on at 20 k and love the solid ride now no body role no sway bar replacement and I can out carve lot of 2 wheelers in the curves
just my 2 cents

On my 2010 RS I started with the sway bar in 2010 then put on the elka's in 2011, in 2013 i did the relocater blocks and finally in 2014 had the laser allingment done. I will say tht each step of the way I saw an improvement in handling. There were a lot of other things I did along the way but these pertain to the questions that were asked.
