Am new here, and need Advice, Please!
I am a handicapped person having a yearning for a Can Am Spyder
I am new here, and a hankering for a Spyder. I have been to a Neuropathy Dr. back 20 years ago to see about my walking problems and found nothing, NOTHING, as to an explanation for why i was having problems walking, but it progressed to the point I had to use a walker for short walks and an electric wheel chair or scooter when going to the mall or wherever! But I DO NOT let it bother me what so ever, I JUsT GO
and i will live life the best i can.
NOW, is there a way to mount a walker to a Spyder, maybe behind the Driver in the Passenger seat or maybe the side of the Spyder out of the way as to not interfere with getting o/off the Spider? i have good balance sitting but not standing!
And what about a trailer or some other way of carrying a power chair/scooter? i have set on a Spyder RT at my local Dealer at Beaumont Tractor and i love the feel without needing ANY modifications done for me of any kind.I am most interested in the Spyder RS or RS S or maybe the ST, the RT would be nise later after i get used to one as i don't want to do any long distance traveling, until i get comfortable with RS or RS S.
I can't ride a 2wheel motorcycle for lack of balance but do have 3 wheel bicycle that i LOVE, so IT HAS TO BE a 3 wheel motorcycle for me. as i have had a lot of LOVE for motorcycles all my life, but it PISSES ME OFF that i can't ride a 2 wheeler motorcycle ![Mad](images/smilies/mad.png) ?

The RS or ST would work best for you as the rear trunk would make it difficult to mount your chair. I hope you are able to purchase and adapt one for your needs.

Thanks, but i don't believe I will need any Mods. done!
One Question though, do you know if Floor Boards come on the RS or ST Model?
I set on a RT Model at my local Dealer, and found that I like the Floor Board, didn't ride it though, but I will eventually. Thanks to whoever can Answer!

The ST Limited comes with floorboards.
They can be added on any of those bikes, that have the SE-5 transmission.

It might to possible to strap a wlker across the passenger seat. I cary a "bundle of Flags" that way. Go the thread mentioned.
I would also guess a $149 trailer fro Harbor Freight might work for a power chair with a folding ramp
Good luck with your quest

I'm asking only because you mentioned neuropathy. Has your dr. sent you for laser therapy? I'm just curious because I used it on a patient with neuropathy in both feet and I noticed a difference with her walking and so did others; that was after about 4 treatments. I'm not talking about the treatment where your feet are wrapped in LEDs on a strip. I found that that didn't have any effect. I also found the laser treatment to work mainly on non-surgical problems.
As far as your original question, I cannot add to what's been said. Good luck.

I do have a Dodge Ram Pickup that can carry my wheelchair, so i may just get the Can Am Spyder, and not about any Trailer, and just worry about a way strap a walker! Maybe accross the seat as you said, oh, and thanks.
Does anybody know if a person needs a Motorcycle license in Texas,as I have a standard Automobile Licese?

I only Pray ![pray](images/smilies/51.gif) that it is possible, otherwise, my walker would have to make do. ![sour](images/smilies/sour.gif) ![Gaah](images/smilies/gaah.gif)
The total towing capacity of the Spyder RT or ST is 400 pounds, including the trailer. You would have to use a light power chair and fabricate a very light trailer.

Wylie,
Can the laser treatments help with diabetic neuropathy too? ![shocked](images/smilies/shocked.gif)
I'm at the point where all sensation is gone in both legs below the knees, and I've lost all strength in my left ankle...
(Hence; the need for the SE-5 transmission!)
Thanks!
