Here's the original most updated post if everyone could share it, much appreciated!
Rob Lordier, our Vice President, his Spyder was STOLEN last night between 2am & 6am from his home. All the information I have right now is its a brand new 2014 black RS with a touring windshield and it did have a cover on it. Be on the lookout and if anyone sees anything being trailered, call the State Police! He lives in Reynoldsville, OH.

strange
i think this bike was taken for the motor and parts. lets face it a spyder is a specialty bike and is not hard to spot. when my triumph rocket111 was stolen out of my yard people were shocked that a rocket was taken because it is the type of bike that stands out. my bike was never found and the dealer and police both said it was stolen for parts or is in a cargo box headed for south america. i sure hope it was just a joy ride thing but i doubt it.

Everybody needs to check ebay and their local craigslist for 2014 parts in the future for "hot" parts..Also make sure you use the steering lock when you park..

Bump, a thief is nothing but lazy individual whom lacks morals. I am a long ways away but will do some online fishing tonight.
I hope they catch the lazy and drag him around town with the spyder.
Just sayin'............
Three in the garage, and I think I can fit at least one more in.....and then we will have to build another garage.
The roads in NY are so bad that I am glad we bought a Ryker Rally

I am assuming there is no new news on this theft. Like everyone else, I hope they catch the thief and recover the Spyder before it's too late.
They used to hang horse thieves.... Some say it didn't work. But at least they never did it again...
Only SLOW people have to leave on time...

I hope they catch the thieves. This was not a theft of opportunity, there was planning involved to pick a time and method to steal it. A spyder is just not something you just pick up a walk away with. Who ever took it wanted that spyder and thought they could get away with such a hi profile item. It tells us that as spyders become more common there will be more thefts of them and we need to be more vigilant. I am a long ways away so I will keep watch for stolen parts or a 2014 that seems too god to be true for sale in the area. Good luck.

i find this strange
first there is a special key, than a electric parking brake, so the bike would need to be dragged onto a flat bed or the rear wheel had to be off the ground. so the first suspect to me would be the dealer or workers at the dealer, someone had to make a key for this it happen or knew just where the bike was. so i would tell the police to run all the workers at the dealer for a background check if that is possible. i would also find out if the dealer had means to make a key and code it to the bike. it is not a easy bike to steal even if you leave the key in the bike someone with no knowledge would have to figure out how to start it.

With this being a RS I would think that the people that stole it was hoping it had the triple in it. Good for nothing bastards need their nuts chopped off! Hope they locate it.....

It did a pretty good job of reducing the recidivism rates; didn't it?

Before removing the key. Turn the handlebars all the way to the left or right, your choice. Turn the key to the lock symbol position and remove it.

Why would you need to start it? If you don't need to start it so you don't need a key. As was point out the RS does not have an electric parking brake, but I think can disable the parking brake on a ST or RT in 30 seconds.

If they don't already, all dealers should require a proof of ownership for anyone ordering a new ignition for any Spyder. A new ignition has to be programmed to the Spyder, etc., a rather BUDS intensive process, if I understand correctly. As someone mentioned, I would go right to the selling dealer and investigate any order of an ignition, etc. If the Spyder was left outside, not a good idea. If the garage was broken into, someone knew what they were looking for. Good luck on the recovery.
