How do I recharge my dead battery?
Yup.. Did it. Left the key on overnight. Battery is dead. Can I simply hook a battery charger to the positive and negative posts under the seat OR do I HAVE to hook it to the battery terminals?
Thanks for helping me get back in the saddle.

According to the manual, The terminals under the seat can be used. Just remember to connect the positive terminal first then the negative. Dale

use a battery charger...not a battery tender.......under the seat are two plugs.......one is positive.....left side and the other is negative........let it sit overnight.........then after it is charged, use a battery tender!

Don't recharge it with a high amperage input. Use 2 amps or close to that. If you can not do that. Jump start it and ride for an hour or so. Weather permitting. jm2c

Does anybody know how much abuse these batteries can take, before "dead", becomes, "Too Dead"?

Draining it untill it is dead does effect it's over all life. Marine Deep cycle batteries are better in this area but your still not support to drain them below a certain voltage or it damages the cells.

Looks like you're on an RT. If so, You can charge it through the 12 V accessory plug in the rear trunk. If you go that route you'll need to go with less amps and a longer charge (which is better for the battery anyway).

Chargers, Tenders, etc.
O.K. I've gotta ask.
I've seen numerous posts on tenders that talk about either using the power outlet in the rear trunk, or attaching leads directly to the battery terminals to plug in to. Is there some reason that connecting the tender to the posts under the seat using alligator clips is not recommended?

Nope, nothing wrong with it. Just more convenient using the rear trunk.

The slower the better. A battery tender is a trickle charger and charges at 1/10th an hour.

from what I've read..if the lead acid battery goes dead.. you can revive it, but it will never be the same..
i bit the bullet along with the charger.. I am VERY impressed .. not cheap.. I do not have the opportunity to ride a lot.. so this works for me
