How many miles do you ride?
I have been reading a number of posts, and have some concern about longevity, and maintenance costs. I am currently on a wing, and though I do not expect the same reliability, I want to be riding as much as I can. on a typical Saturday (about the only time we can ride because of work etc) we will go about 400-500 miles. We average around 10,000 per year. I would like to get a feel of how many miles people are riding so I can gauge whether the issues are as a result of numerous miles, or inherent in 's. Thanks

i put 13000 pm my 2013 in 13 weeks

A mileage lightweight here I log about 5000 per year...

I average 10K-12K a year on the RT, plus another 3K-5K on my BMW RT the last couple of years, and another one or two on the vintage bikes. Obviously the Spyder is my vehicle of choice. This hand injury will reduce my mileage a lot this year, but that's not the fault of the Spyder. Maintenance costs have been less than my Beemer, but I do a lot of my own maintenance and the Spyder is still on extended warranty. Higher maintenance costs are for tires if nothing else. The BMW tires cost more and have to be replaced considerably more often. We typically do 350-750 miles a day on a road trip...a bit less when we are sightseeing a lot.

My wife is coming up on the second year for her RT (one of the first 2012 Limiteds delivered). She has 14,000 miles on it. She put 16,000 on her 2010 RT in a little over a year.
My 2012 RT Limited has just turned 17,000 and is 18 months old. My 2011 RT was traded after I owned it for a year and it had 15,000 miles on it.
Penny and Rick have owned many motorcycles starting in 1974 with Hondas, then to Suzukis, Gold Wings and ultimately Spyders.

27K on the 09 RS in 2 1/2 years; 15K on the 12 RT Performance in a bit over a year. Zero issues with either. Tires are my biggest expense item. Maintaining the RT is a heck of a lot cheaper than the tractor!

Dam I jealous, Id love to get to ride mine as much as some of riders here. I have not had mine a year yet but should be 5k or less but I only work 1/4 of a mile from my house.

Butch has an "08 GS SM5 with 50,000+ miles on it. He's put a new belt on and replaced the bearings and a new battery this year. Other than that just your normal tire wear.
I've got a '12 with 21,000 on it, just put a new rear tire on this summer still have the original fronts on.

I'm another lightweight (mileage wise)...I've put roughly 5000 miles a year on mine. I'd put more on if racing season didn't cut down my riding from April through September.

How many miles?
I put 15,000 miles on my RT the first year, looking to put more this year(year started in August). I sold my 2 other bikes so I only have my RT. I had issues within about 6 months, only minor, none since last year.

35,000 miles - two years next month. No problems, 1 new rear tire at 20K; front tires at 28K. Dealer maintained under a service contract.
I have been taking it a little easy ... 3500 miles on the Vulcan in the last month and only a couple of hundred on the Spyder ...

Mid-October will be 26 months and 30,000 miles on my 2011 RT-S SM5. Rear tires every 9K, several water pump seals and a failed clutch slave cylinder. Ride strictly for pleasure -- don't start it up unless we're going 200 miles.

There are a lot of high milers on here--some with near or over 50K on a specific machine.
When first came out, I put 20,000 miles on mine within the first year.
I traded off the 2008 at 23,500 for a new RT. I currently have 35,000 miles on that one.
The 2009 has 25,000 plus on it, and our new 2011 RT has 9500 in a little over a year.
I have not experienced any major mechanical difficulties in the 93K miles mentioned above on four different 's. Two were first year offerings.
Currently Owned: 2019 F3 Limited, 2020 F3 Limited: SOLD BOTH LIMITEDS in October of 2023.
Previously : 2008 GS-SM5 (silver), 2009 RS-SE5 (red), 2010 RT-S Premier Editon #474 (black) 2011 RT A&C SE5 (magnesium) 2014 RTS-SE6 (yellow)
MY FINAL TALLY: 7 Spyders, 15 years, 205,500 miles
IT HAS BEEN A LONG, WONDERFUL, AND FUN RIDE.
