BATTERY PROBLEMS
I have a 2011 RT-L and it will not start; pretty sure it is the battery even though there is enough lift to play radio. I had been riding very short distant and not giving the battery enough time to recharge, at lease this is what I think went wrong. But the real trouble is getting the battery out. I have read a few post and all they say is take the side panel off and remove. Well I had to take two panels off unscrew part of another one and finally got to the battery but there is no way that it will come out this way. Does anyone know of an easier way or tell me what I am missing here. Thx Jeff

There are battery posts (one is covered with a red plastic cover +) under your seat. Charge your battery & see if the problem goes away….

The following may help. There is also a video floating around showing how to remove the panels.

I took others advise and got a battery tender to keep up the charge, especially when going on short or infrequent rides.

Practice, practice, practice and you will be able to remove the body parts and get to the battery real quick.

Sounds like you've had some experience with that Dave.

Thx for all your help. After taking off two panels I found the battery but could not get to it. So I broke down and had it taken to the dealer who changed out the battery. Then was told that I had taken off the wrong panels.. But al lease I am up and riding like I should be.

Glad to hear it! While you were at the dealers; did they give you some instructions on how to get to the battery for subsequent changes and servicing?
-
Yes they did. It is the panel under the seat. Who knew?? Anyway its up and running which is the main thing. Now back to planning the trip to spyderfeast no matter where it will be.
