I just got my RT Limited. It's new and all stock. Any tips for long rides and suggestions on things I may want to add to my Spyder? I've had it one week and put on 400 miles and loved every single one.
The most important accessory is gas, with out it there an't no point.
After that you have a blank canvas and can take it in any direction your heart desires. Depends on what you prefer, lights there are plenty of option from Tricled to brighten up your spyder. There are comfort mods like seats, floorboard, baker airwings even stiffer suspension and Vinyl wraps to morph your spyder. The only limit is your imagination and budget, one is normally bigger than the other.
Best place to start is looking through the spyder mods section to get some ideas.

My best mod has to the the big fender washer I siliconed to the top of the rear trunk lid. It hold the antenna to my Sirius Stratus 6 very nicely. Now I can listen to music/sports/talk without those annoying commercials.....or losing the station every hour!!
Read this first! http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/s...-Spyder-owners
And be prepared to spend a lot of time reading here. The owners manual and this web site have a wealth of information (and GREAT people!), which was extremely helpful to me as a new (as in 2 months) spyder RT owner.
The best tip so far was to raise the preload on the front shocks to at least 4 and increase the pressure on the rear suspension. I mainy ride 2-up.
Enjoy your ride.

and on your new ...................I'm sure that you will get lots of suggestions for mods but here are mine:
1. Utopia Backrest.............big difference for the "long" rydes
2. Armrests for the passenger (Corbin or Diamond R......decisions, decisions )
3. Additional lights for safety (3rd Brakelight, Front and Rear Britesides, etc.)
4. Rob a bank................you'll need the extra money
Good luch on your choices!

Welcome to our little corner of the internet!!
Be careful: Farkleosis is a disease with no practical known cure!
Death seems to end it once the final packages have been delivered by FEDEX, UPS or the USPS...
How that death occurs varies; it often is from a spouse or significant other who discouvers just how much money has been spent buying all of the absolute necessities that you've added to the bike without telling them...
Bankruptcy is also known to slow; but not stop, its progress!
Thanks for all the tips!! It looks like there are more mods then I have money(at least for now)! I think the back rest will be one of the first things I get. Then maybe the 622 trailer. Keep the tips coming. I need all the help I can get.
If funds are limited you'll have to prioritize. For me, first it's the things to protect the Spyder, then what makes me more comfortable and safer, then farkles.
So I have added a bump skid to prevent any more road rash on the lower front end. My next priority will be an Ultimate seat, highway pegs(or floor boards) and 3rd brake light. Then I'll think about a wrap and decorative lights.
Of, course, if money was no object, I'd order about one of everything!
Scott,
start here on the home page and visit each sponsor, make note of every vendor and item you are interested in, then you can prioritize and order them as your funds allow!
The sponsors here are REALLY the CREAM of spyder accessories!

Welcome ! I have had my Spyder since May and decided comfort, ride and protection were the most important things. That why the Mods in my signature reflect this. next year will be seal floorboards and a BajaRon swaybar. Beside that I like to keep it as stock as possible!
Congrats on the new spyder. You will just love it. The best mod I have is the Spyderpops heat shield. It made the ride much more comfortable. I had it installed last year at spyderfest. We're not to far apart, I live in Topeka. Maybe I'll see you around. We ride to Lawrence pretty often. That is where my wife's family lives.
I think our Spyderlover families have gave you all the tips. The only one thing I can add is to take with you is the owners manual and it will be handy. Have fun riding, be safe and God Bless you.

That sounds like a good idea. I know there are a few other Spyder riders in Lawrence but have not had a chance to talk with them.
In my book, comfort and safety are the most important. For comfort I have Seal Floorboards ( of course), Utopia backrest, a third rear light, and a Spyderpops radiator guard. The other stuff is fun and individualizes my Silver Seal.

Any suggestions on things I should take for a long ride. Also does anyone recommend any web site for mapping out your ride and planning gas stops and hotels?
