Should the 2015 Spyder have a bigger engine?
After the 2013 ST release with the RT engine, should the new 2015 models receive a new 2+ bigger power plant?

V-4 double overhead cam, four valves per cylinder, 1,500 cc's, shaft drive, catalytic converter in the muffler (so its easier to replace with an aftermarket muffler and not have a catalytic converter) and adjustable handlebars and floorboards.

Dream on! I think most wanted more power on this model release. BRP is a company that will tell us what we want I guess.
For most of us though if they can really improve on service and reliability, that would be biggest improvement.

Now your talking! Is BRP listening?
Was hoping for more of a change in 2013 RT's but got let down.
I do like some of the changes but not enough to make me spend
that kind of money for it.

If they came out with a bigger engine I would be at the dealer waiting for them to open. The vibrations, shifting and related issues could ALL be addressed by an engine large enough to pull a trailer and 2-up without lugging.

They could have at LEAST did some tuning on the existing engine to give more HP and Torque. Even 10-20 on both would help. Its not gonna solve what alot are asking for, but it would have helped.

Put in a V-4, 1800 cc, 2 separate electrical systems: one (straight wiring for lights, brake fluid levels, etc) 2nd (VSS, Traction Control, etc). It is overkill for limp mode to occur when the brake fluid gets a micro below level, or some lights go out. That could be done with the old "idiot lights" that have guided us for many years.
2008 GS SE5 in 2008
Traded at 43,000 miles for a left over
2010 RT SM5 in 2011
Traded at 57,000 for a left over
2014 RTS SE6 in 2015, which has 35,000 miles
Oct 19th, 2017, totaled 2014 RT while killing a Javaline
Dec 12th, 2017 drove a 2017 F3L home. What an awesome machine!
Never had any breakdown stranded issues.

Limp mode Sucks!! Yes, mine was for a mm low on brake fluid! Stupid. What's wrong with just a warning light????

I don't think this is happening till spyder get some competition and brp starts to feel a little heat. Monopoly is not good for consumers... Of course brp deserves all the success. They spent the time and money developing spyder.

Would like to see an engine with a long flat torque curve, beginning at around 2500 rpm, and gearing to let us ride just under the peak of that curve at highway speeds. Often wondered what a 1 to 2 degree advance in the cams would do to the rpm/torque of the engine.

IMHO
I think they need to fix what they already have first.....and try to fix the dealer network , like level of service ,competance, ETC.... and in my case just plain HONESTY, then I'll think about asking for EXTRA'S..Mike

Power to the ground with current chassis?
How will the power get to the ground? Even with the mediocre 998, the tires will burn rubber on a dead stop take off. Put in more power, and then better gearing for that power to be in lower rpms, and we'll all be buying new tires every month.

I keep hitting my SE5 thumb switch, and 6th never comes
just "check transmission", perhaps that is 6th gear?

"Check transmission"... they mean to say, "check your manual; it's only a five-speed..."

Was advised that a larger engine would spell doom in the Euro market. Maybe Chris56 can confirm.
