This has been the longest dry spell for me not riding since bringing the bike into the dealership May 10th. I logged
22,432 miles that were for the most part trouble free. I have no complaints. ( Stuff Happens) Just anxious to return to the
riding experience.
I may be getting my bike back in less than 10 days
- 3 thumb salute
It has been in the shop for, oil pressure switch, rear shock, inoperable radio/XM/ipod, GPS not charging , turn signal not
functioning adequately, parking brake intermittently activating at 1 mph, which may have caused premature rear
brake wear. They are also replacing the cluster for CB update and hoping that some of these other issues will be fixed
from that as well. Just waiting for 1 part and then alot of wrenching and testing to occur..............................
...........and then maybe just maybe The wife and I will ride to Julian on Saturday June 24th, and do a little gambling
at the Santa Ysabel Casino, before heading to stay with some friends that live near Del Mar SanDiego. And if the bikes
not ready I will cage it
And if I get it back even sooner I wanna meet up with the Encino Wednesday night group.
also HIGHWAY 2 IS NOW OPEN And my wife is so happy that in celebration she is holding up 2 stars
We have to get something going California Spyderlovers.com where we meet for breakfast or lunch here http://www.newcombsranch.com/home_iframe.htm
I so miss ryding.................only a little while longer.

Thanks John. if I get another 22,400+ trouble free miles, this can happen every year and a half Did I just say that
One thing I forgot to do was take a photo of my Display Cluster odometer reading, I am close to getting my 25000 milage pin. I have written on the work order 22,432, so I only have 2568 to go

So I went over to the dealership this morning as I had business in the area. Bike started up, sounded good, the radio and ipod were working but no XM. Brad my service writer was on hold with BRP to find out about that and other things. They had a new display cluster they had installed, cuz it only showed 6 miles on the odometer. However they installed a 2010 they had in stock and BRP said no, to order the 2011 under warranty. This is what I thought they had done several weeks ago. So now I have to wait till they ship it out. probably another 10 days. This is where Fed X overnite would be a big help to the consumer. So no riding for me for a little while l o n g e r.
Reeeeeeally sorry to read that.
Just a small note. Our dealer refused to order anything overnight anymore. They say it always hits customs and turns into no less than five day shipping, and if the order ground they have it in three to four days for almost nothing in cost compared to overnight... Of course we are just hours away from Canada "A"....

Gosh that doesn't sound right. No reason then to pay extra. I have had parts shipped next day air and rec'd it in 2 days from Canada. Maybe I was just lucky that time, gonna have to call FedX and find out. Would be nice if they stocked a small warehouse in the Midwest, and hired a couple people to ship the items out sooner. That would be doing the most.

Customs is the luck of the draw for sure. Not every box is chosen. It if is a slow day the % is higher that a box will get searched (They only have so many folks doing it), than high volume days are. I used to ship a lot of products to Canada, and had to learn the process to reduce the chances of a search and delay (They actually open the box and verify everything) and it was amazing how many "Prats" would come up missing. And of course they never take responsibility for it.
Bottom line. Our dealer is not taking any more chances of telling a client "It will be here tomorrow" only to have it stuck in Customs for three extra days...

So needless to say I only got 2 blocks from the dealership when the parking brake came on and stopped the bike.(This was the initial major issue that I had brought the bike in for.) At the traffic signal it also at first would not disengage. I could not make a u turn in heavy traffic so i went about 5 more blocks till I headed back to the dealership. The service tech advisor took it for a spin and it happened to him numerous times also. Dealership is closed Sunday and Monday, so they got in contact with BRP and followed the flow chart, and seeing that they had already replaced the brake toggle switch the next component was the DPN computer. So it should arrive sometime tomorrow. and I might get my bike back on July 15th.
I was only gonna do one major trip each year until I retire, and having already done the Spyderfest I was content with that. But...........since I have missed 10 weeks of riding I am gonna take another trip this year to Spyders in the Redwoods. I will be leaving Los Angeles on Saturday July 30th with my riding buddy scottyb and his wife. He just got a trailer for his RT so we will both being bringing along everything including the kitchen sink. We are gonna take our time going up Highway 1 as much as possible to our final destination in Eureka. We are also gonna spend Sunday in San Francisco and ryde down the famous Lombard St. It will be really neet to get back on the road after such a long delay. I will be sporting a new 2011 display cluster, new XM module, new rear shock, along with other numerous parts.
I am gonna so enjoy getting back in the saddle again.

Hey George, sorry you and Lori can't make it. I will take lots of pics if I make it up there, I picked up my bike last night and it is ryding extremely well, however this morning I noticed a puddle of fluid underneath so I am hoping it is minor and they will send me on my way. They said there were no leaks in there shop.
I am ryding up with scottyb and he will have a go pro attached to his rig for some cool shots too. We leave at 6 am tomorrow if all goes well.
