PS
No chocolate bars either.
Not sure if I understand exactly where you placed these items...

It gets rather hot in there, as we've learned that by trying the chocolate scenario he mentioned

I don't even carry chocolate in my pants!! There I have my garage door opener and my clear lenses for night ryding!

And that is why they call it the "Top Oven".

That may be why it is called a "glove box". It has been my experience that when anything is enclosed and left exposed in the sun without any insulation, it will get hotter than the surface of the container. I do not own any electronic gadgets for the RT, but if I did and removed them for security, I would put them in the deepest part of the rear trunk and cover them with something to provide insulation. I would also not leave them for an extended period of time in direct sunlight.

I didn't recommend it, I just explained it. I never had these components on my PE RT. I'll probably remove at least the insert on my 2011. I carry sunglasses, anti-fog paste, sunscreen, and an insect repellent stick in my glove box. All traveled well...but I don't live in a scorching hot climate. I wouldn't carry electronics there, not even a garage door opener. The space gets heated from both below and above.

I stand corrected, my bad.

On some RTs the glove box came thru without the insert or insulation underneath. I have kept my camera in mine with no problems. Definitely would not put chocolate bars in there nor anywhere else on the bike.

Insulation for cure
Try these parts to help heat problem.
Exterior Front Insulation Foam Part # 705004427
L/H Insulation Foam Part # 705004428
R/H Insulation Foam Part # 705004429
Heat Shield Part # 705004424
Internal foam Part # 705004426
First 4 parts applied to outside of compartment and require disassembly of center compartment (good size job).
Last part is an insert for the compartment.
I have all 5 on my Rt and it helped a lot.
Good Luck

top oven...

When I had mine apart to install the CB, I wrapped the glove box in insulation. It still gets warm in there...but no where near as hot as it used to get.
