    Default new wind shield

Anyone know why they shortened the winshield 2 inches and the side deflectors about the same on the 2011 RT. Im 6ft 2 in and hoping that the wind is not on my face.

There were three reasons stated...to provide a little more air to riders in hot weather, to reduce backdraft, and to improve gas mileage. The 2010 windshield measured H 27" x W 25". It is still available through the accessory catalog as P/N 705003777. The 2010 lower deflectors are P/N 705002843 & P/N 705002844. The 2011 shield is H 25" x W 24". That is P/N 705004851, for those that want to have a lower windshield on their 2010. The 2011 Deflectors are a different shape, slightly shorter, and are angled more. Those part numbers are P/N 705004924 & P/N 705004925, for those that wish to upgrade their 2010 to 2011 deflectors. There is also an even smaller shield available for the RT, H 23" x W 22" P/N 219400243. The RT has a great deal of verticle windshield adjustment, so I doubt the shorter windshiled will be a problem for any but the very tallest riders. I am 6'0" and I never raised mine all the way last year.

    Default Here's something.

Lamonster posted this diagram a couple months back. Explains a lot. I kinda like it. When/if I switch out windscreens, I'll get an 11 for my 10.

Is that a vent for a Honda Gold Wing?. i met someone while snowmobiling who installed a windshield vent for a Honda Goldwing . On warm days he would open the vent for some air as it got warm behind the tall windshield

Indeed - tho the GL vents can leak in the rain….. My RT S came with the shorter windshield, and it was too short for me, so I swapped it with a friend who needed the shorter version.. and I'm considering a Laminar Lip for it too...

Sc Doc, did you order the GL1500 windshield vent from Sabre Cycle? Was it fairly easy to install?

    Scotty,
By any chance do you have any of the suggested retail prices for the 2011 parts? I always ran with my screen down a couple of inches and if I can cheat a bit more MPG out of the bike...

I assume the new chrome lower wing deflector accessory would come in the new 2011 shape. $99 is a little steep but if you're going to change them out anyway....
