They will have to work on the aerodynamics a little and you can probably say good by to the frunk. This might drastically change the weight distribution. Maybe batteries in saddle bags that can be removed for charging.
definatly good by to the frunk--beccause that is where they will most likely have to store the batteries.
Maybe not, think outside the box a bit. Batteries need not be square....think tubular. With slight tupperware work they may be able to run them on both sides more centered fore to aft. You do not want all that weight in the nose.
Regardless of what we potentially could loose. We gain far more in other areas to make the frunk a no issue for me. To many aftermarket luggage options available, and trailers.
I for one am proud to read of BRP taking the first step in the roadster world. Makes me proud to be an owner and supporter...
This is a few years away from any kind of reality certainly. I know autos and trucks must meet new standards in the next few years as it is, and this clearly makes since to stay ahead of Government legislation. Very smart move for BRP. Reminds me of when they took over and changed Evinrude's engines...
Electric drive could really make these fast off the line too !
That paint job and other mods look pretty cool.
Spyder #1 - 2008 GS SM5 Premier Edition #1977. RIP after 80,000 miles.
Spyder #2 - 2012 RT SM5. Traded in after 24,000 miles.
Spyder #3 - 2015 F3 SM6. Put 13,000 miles on and sold it.
Spyder #4 - 2017 F3 SM6. Too good of a deal to pass up!
Cool, I love that paint job I hope that they make a new more powerful fuel effecient combustion engine rather than an electric or hybrid engine.
just my 0.02 cents worth.
Thats going to be an interesting project maybe they'll turn some of the tuple ware into solar panels to provide some of the power it needs and with technology like that maybe we can adapt it to our normal spyders
Make it All electric. Put the battery's along both sides, Where the muffler and the belt are now.
Hang on now;
Put the motor where the gas engine is now, Make it Front wheel drive = Hence no belt needed.
I do like the paint job very much. Those pieces that cover the swing arm are interesting as well. My concern for the project will of course be any possible performance hits (power, handling and the like) and COST. It will be interesting to see what develops...
Is that an electrical charging socket just ahead of the left foot peg?
Quieter, cleaner, recharge at home, no gasoline-related fires...I'd buy one!
But batteries can explode----
