I had not heard of them until now. just looked at NYS Overseas Veteran and two guys on the Tribute Ride tomorrow are members. I will look them up about joining.

Sending church address in Kanas to my brother in Council Grove. He and wife won't like it at all.

I was wondering if anybody else out there are PGer's or was thinking about it or if anybody out there knew much about the Guard?
I quit the PG after the groups around here began to deviate from the original charter. They were formed to honor military veterans by riding at their funerals at the invitation of the deceased’s family. Later, it was expanded to include the funerals of law enforcement officers, fire department personnel, and other first responders which I support.

However, of late, they seem to attend the funerals of friends/family. I felt the group lost its focus, so I left. In fairness to the PG, this may be a "local" issue and not a national policy.

I still ride at the funerals of the core group but on my own

    Default Patriot Guard

I just received an email from our State Captain (Florida). The forwarded email was from national. The site is down. I'm not a computer person (heck even sending emails overwhelms me and what is this cut and paste?). Anyhow, it's not exactly hackers, but people intentionally jamming the site. They are in the process of installing new software and it should be back shortly.

Be aware of local chapters. Be sure they are part of "Patriot Guard Riders" and found through their website patriotguardriders.org. Sadly there are many spin offs who are just out to get your money. PGR will never ask you for money. Their funds come from voluntary donations and sale of their gear at the official store at the above website.

Get involved. Lets see all those in the procession behind all those Harleys.

If you don't get choked up watching the video, you ain't human.

Wish all our service people who make the ultimate sacrifice received such a beautiful send off.

I'm Patriot Guard, too. I joined in Ohio and have done one mission in Georgia and one in South Carolina. I'm only available on weekends, so I go when I can.

Just got back from a Patriot Guard mission a few hours ago. It was a long, hot day. Left Augusta at 5 AM so we could be at Ft Stewart by 8:30 AM.

After the chapel service, we escorted the Soldier about 180 miles to the cemetery in Sumter, South Carolina.

Here's the lineup from Georgia and we doubled that when we picked up additional riders in South Carolina.

I did 513 miles today, which is a new one-day distance record.

Joe, I just registered on the GA Chapter forum and wish I would have known about this ride, as I would have joined you. I actually ended up driving to Sumter yesterday for some other business, but would have much rather participated in something more worthwhile. Hopefully I will start getting in the loop now for any other upcoming missions.

Thanks for ryding in this one. I know at one point the temp was 100 degrees in Sumter, so it could not have been a very easy 513 miles either.

Unfortunately, there'll be more Patriot Guard missions to do.

The National site http://patriotguard.org is now back online for those who desire to ahem "enlist". There are no dues. I hope the Spyder community, no matter which forum you subscribe to, is very well represented.

I have yet to ryde my Spyder as a PGR member. I have been a member over 5 years now and participated in several missions. I am honored to stand for those who stood for us. Participate in just one PGR mission and you too will be proud to call yourself a PGR member!

The first one is from this smiley website. http://smileys.on-my-web.com/categorie-Battle.html

The second one, I did a search in Google for "salute smiley" and surfed through a few of the hits to find one that worked.
