The installation of the spring worked on the seat of my 2021 RTL but not on my 2022. The spring just slid all the way down and didn’t fit the strut the same way as the 2021. I will be ordering the improved replacement part for both seats from SlingMods. I’m not a fan of that spring. The trunk lift replacement I purchased from SlingMods has worked really nicely. The OEM trunk lift strut has worked flawlessly so far on the 2022.

Thanks so much for the tip! I just ordered the springs from Amazon for $8.52 but that's a whole lot better than what a new ShowChrome strut costs! Best wishes!!

Danzguy, what Spyder do you have year, mod? I have a 2020 RTL, want to know if the springs you got from Amazon will fit my strut.

Or is it in the 'Last edited by...' line at the bottom of his post, where just a few minutes after Danzguy originally posted, he added as a reason for his edit "Reason: 2022 RTL"
Mind you, either way, bikerbill's question is still a good one, seeking clarification on which Spyder year & model Danzguy has, as it does!

The spring was put on a newer Spyder, 2020 and above.
I doubt that it will work on the older spyders as I think that they had a longer cylinder/strut.

Well, I need to check this out since mine is a 2020 RTL. Shooter, can you be specific on the Amazon spring that fits, I did a search and couldn't find it.

The pics show the spring that the original poster in this thread used on his 2020 RT (middle pic shows the part #):

When my wife's 2021 seat started to not always stay up I looked for a different solution. I found a spring at Ace Hardware that works great giving the stock strut the needed help to stay up.
Dammit! The pics were meant to show in the quoted post too!! No biggie, just click on '<<First' in the page number bar up above the top right of the first post on this page - that'll take you back to the first post in the thread, where the pics are displayed.
K80shooter's post #14 includes an Amazon link too:

Does anyone know of an upgraded strut for the seat of a 2020 RT-L like the one for the tour pack?

Thanks PW, I think this what I'm looking for. I've been fussing around with this problem for a while now spending a few $ here and there and getting springs that don't work, and don't fit. Not spending $40 right now on a new strut, pulling off tupperware and up under the machine, maybe later. Those picture sure helped.

There is no tupperware to be removed on the 2020+ models. I did mine without removing anything.

If you don't want to use the spring, Lamonster Garage has a seat strut replacement which is more than twice the holding power as the original strut. Easy to replace, and instructions with pictures is included. Costs more than $4.00!

Piece of aluminum bar, approximately 7 inches long by 1.25 by 3/16s inch, rests under the seat. Pull up seat, insert bar.
The strut came out long ago. I've also wired the seat release in the open position.
Simple. I like simple.

Yep, yep, yep, Columbia. I decided to go with the same solution. No more worries about the seat lift failing... no more worries about being unable to unlock the seat to get at the gas cap; and increased room under the seat to get the nozzle in on the ‘20+ RT.
Simple, and a definite win/win!
