How difficult is the axle swap? My new RT Limited is in same boat. If dealer ships bike to me without the correct axle, can I do the swap, or is this a dealer type of repair?

You can, but if the replacement axle is covered under warranty so would the labor. I would have the dealer do it.

BRP sourced axles from additional suppliers to get product out the door. In many cases the axles are smaller in diameter than required to install the trailer hitch bolt or in some cases the axles are solid. BRP is offering a replacement axle to those installing a hitch. However, initially I was told by my dealer that this was only for customers installing a factory hitch and not an aftermarket kit. I squawked by writing a civil letter of complaint to my dealer who agreed to install the new axle for free. My logic was that most buyers of 2022 Sypders all ready paid a premium (commodity fee) and had to take delayed delivery of their unit. Up until 2022 Spyders came factory ready to install a hitch without any additional cost other than the hitch itself. The courtesy bulletin is 2022-12 and dealers should be well aware of it by now. I will be curious if all dealers are telling their clients they need to purchase a BRP hitch in order to get the axle installed for free. IMO, it's a cheap shot. I found an aftermarket hitch for $299 on sale with wiring harness vs. $669 (list) for a BRP hitch. Good luck in getting your issue addressed/resolved.

I just went to a closer dealership (not where I purchased my F3T) with the bulletin in hand. They wanted to charge me $ for the newer axle, plus labor, AND tried to sell me the BRP trailer hitch! Then charge me more for installation too! My F3T is still on factory warranty. Will call the dealership where I bought it and see what they say! Thanks for the info.
BTW, CanAmSpyderaccesories out of Canada have an awesome hitch and “plug-and-play” light harness for very reasonable price, and states “will not void factory warranty”.

The 22s are coming like yours WITHOUT the hollow axle. It's due to a parts supply issue for BRP that was preventing bikes from being built.
I've experienced the same situation on my 2022 F3-T. The Bulletin # is PA&A 2022-12...rear wheel axle replacement needed. Have dealt directly with BRP and have a case # opened. BRP called my dealership, they found the "RECALL" notice, but NO dealership had been notified about this situation. When given my VIN # this did NOT show up for CORRECT axle replacement. The service manager went through all correspondence to BRP, already ordered the replacement axle and nut. This IS a WARRANTY, RECALL bulletin and NO charge to customer for parts and labor. The required parts listed for SOLUTION are: Rear wheel axle-705501691 nut- 250100170. PLEASE keep in mind there is an expiration date of October, 2024. Sorry for the late response and info,

I know this may be a late post. I’ve researched this problem to the final decision from BRP Warranty department. The final decision from them is: “When INSTALLING the hitch (THEIR BRP trailer hitch assembly) and the solid axle needs to be swapped out for the “hollow” axle, then there is no charge for parts or labor, for the $99 axle and new nut. The BRP hitch unit costs $800. I just told my dealer order me the correct axle and nut ($110 total) and when part/s arrive he would install it for free. I would do it myself, but I want it done by a BRP cert. mechanic so it’s under warranty.

Sorry I'm late on this, the “hollow” axle was a “bulletin”. 2022’s had a supply issue and put in “solid axles”. I’ve gone around with BRP warranty and my dealership, for over 2 months!! Final response was “If there is a problem with installing a trailer hitch, (being a solid axle) BRP would send a new “hollow” axle to accommodate THEIR trailer hitch assembly!!" In other words, they want YOU to purchase THEIR entire trailer hitch (NOW $789) and then there would be no charge for the “hollow axle” and nut!! I just picked up the required “hollow” axle and the “jam nut”, now waiting on the long shaft that goes through the axle.

Nope. I have a copy of the service bulletin; Can-Am will replace the solid axle for free, but the service bulletin expires 10/24. My dealer tried same bs.
Also, not true you have to buy OEM parts. Harley just lost million $$$ lawsuit with FTC for trying the same story! You can do all the work yourself; have someone else do it; and even use aftermarket parts, and the warranty is still good.
