Jackstand under rear shock absorber
I like that you’ve posted pictures. My wife just transitioned from 2 wheels to a 2013 RTS SE5 that she bought from the original 95 yr old owner. I’m doing my first oil and filter change on this “new” machine. I do most of the basic maintenance on our motorcycles and cars but the Spyder is a new thing. I have the full factory manual. I don’t have a motorcycle lift but floor jacks and jackstands and even stacks of 2x8 lumber. Some folks are dead set against supporting on the rear shock saying BRP warns against this. Seems to me if the rear shock can support the shocks of driving a jackstand wouldn’t be a problem.
What has your experience been?
Thanks

I use a 1500 lb motorcycle jack and it lifted the RT no problem.
Back pad is almost directly under the driver foot peg.
This is where it hits on the frame.

But sometimes it is good to bring up older subjects that can help people. I think these are great pictures.

I wouldn't, but that's just me.
You could use a 2x4 placed under both ears of the bracket though. Lift from the bracket and not the shock bolt.
I lift from the frame.

EKB2, BRP don’t “warn” about doing this, they state in their workshop manual, DO NOT do this. That’s enough for me to think - ok, I don’t want them to have an issue with warranty (or other) claims, so I won’t do this. You do you however.
As K80 and Mike say, a block of wood across the whole mechanism is different, but lifting under that single point is not something I would do, just in case
