Looking for a 12v cooler - rain proof??
Hidy-ho all,
I have a platform on my (pull behind) trailer tongue for a cooler, and I ran a SAE cable from the battery to the hitch. Now I'm looking for a 12v cooler.
I'm reaching out to you all because I figure with all the experience here I'll get a quick answer.
The problem I'm having is finding a 12v cooler that is OK in the rain.
Tray dimensions are about 21 x 17" but if I attach a "mounting frame" to the bottom of the cooler that would be a non-issue.
Hopefully someone has a link for me....
Thanks as always
Mike

Sorry looks like gonna have to fab a cover( with additional breathing room for cooler to function). DoNOT suggest just wrapping a tarp around cooler.

Can't wrap a refrigerated cooler with a bag if it is plugged in, as it will have no place to exhaust the heat from the condenser.
My suggestion would be/is to go with dry ice in a regular cooler.
I have used it in my lil' Coleman that I strap on the back using a dish towel to separate it from my drinks, so that it doesn't freeze them.

Just a word of caution..... If you pull the trailer behind your Spyder (Looks like you have several bikes), remember your trailer tongue is unsprung. Electrical and breakable stuff probably don't like that ride very much. I have always thought those tongue racks were better suited for carrying waterproof bags filled with lighter weight stuff. Good luck..... Jim

Being a frugal sort, the wife calls it world class cheap, if I had to, I'd opt for a sturdy insulated cooler and ice. My personal preference is a Camelbak.

otherwise be a vulgar brawl.

Just need to use dry ice as it is lighter and won't melt into a watery mess and slosh around in the cooler causing problems with its weight shifting, plus as long as you keep the cooler closed it will keep stuff cold or even frozen for several days.

Just doing a quick search 2 places in Geistown Roberts Oxygen and Home City Ice. But Like what JKMSPYDER said check with your local grocery store first.
I have usually found mine at a local food lion but not all of them carry it. And unless you are spending more than a week out on the road it should last for several days.
