D500B352-E0BA-46E1-8EB5-BFE552123190.jpg
Sadly info is:
May 23 2014- Jan 4 2024 ;3695 days new
140 days till 10y
22688m from 100k Goal.
Sorry for delay in posting, still working out insurance & whatnot. Thankfully minor physical injury - Spyder, different story. Five o’clock traffic & I’m bout 4 cars back from a red light when a Teen driving a white truck hit the red truck hard enough for it to hit me. Was towed to a city lot & I was able to ride home with an escort a few days later. Not street legal at the moment, license bracket destroyed among other “issues”.

Still hopeful to make Goal & others. Won’t know till insurance & lawyers get done. Hope to see you out there soon

Glad you're OK! Spyders can be repaired/replaced.

I'm glad only your feelings and the spyder got hurt and that you are still all in one piece. Be sure to let us know how the insurance game comes out. Good, I hope.

Sorry to hear this and feel for you as a fellow Ryder that was hit in the rear while at a light on the way to O.C. bikefest last Sept.
I hope everything gets worked out, unfortunately you took a hit from a lot bigger vehicle than I did but you got lucky it was between you and the main driver that caused the accident.
I was in the front of the line and got ejected from a small car that hit me lower and faster which turned my seat into a catapult.

Ok sorry for delay , slight distractions as well as repairs, insurance sucks (as expected) & failed to total - However, they probably should have, as tech found obvious frame warping.
IT STILL RYDES FINE achievement afterwards.

The Tech was able to skillfully fix the blinker/bag bracket that I thought was the worst of damage.

After:

The bag itself has a broken clamp & is yet to be replaced; no problem, just 1 bag short at the moment (Still a work in progress). Found a replacement license plate bracket with same bolt pattern as the DIY Sport Fender that did not survive. A lil' tweaking managed to recover the license plate & its no longer available frame...
I missed Spyders in the Smokies, again. But I have a room already for the Hot Springs Rally! So, looking good for the 100k goal, possibly even on the 10y mark (May 23)
Thanks again Everyone.

If I was you, I think I would find a different insurance company, anything less than as it was before the crash would totally be unacceptable in my book! You didn't ask for this trouble. I hate insurance companies; I have never had a good time with them; they don't mind taking your money; but when it comes time to come the other way, it's not so easy! Granted there are people that try to hoodwink them, and that doesn't help! Good luck, keep your chin up, and don't settle for good enough, make them fix it right!!

I would have insisted that the frame be replaced. If they won't total the bike, then they'll have to pay to fix it and that in the long run will cost them more.

If the insurance company overrides the tech's recommendation to replace the frame as it could be a future safety issue, the insurance company is incurring a huge liability. JMHO

More than once I've successfully told an insurance company that their 'initial offer' to repair or pay-out was not adequate, and to go away and come back with a better offer - these companies are in the business of minimising their payouts wherever possible, so they tend to make a low-ball offer first up, knowing that most people believe that their first offer is the one and only final offer, but, at least here in Oz and I'm pretty sure in your part of the World too, you need to agree with what they've offered before it becomes binding!
So if you haven't already agreed, then check out the rules (got an Insurance Ombudsman or a Better Business Bureau in your neck of the woods?? ) and if it's permitted, as I believe it is, then send 'em back to come up with a better solution/offer, cos you're not happy with accepting what they've offered to do so far!
