....I woke up and there was frost on the truck windshield. Now that the sun is shining the windshield is frost free.
Currently 40°F and mostly clear sky. I have the last of the leaves to make gone.
.... That's what my wife said must happen today.
High today of 46°F with lots of Sunshine.
Low at 24°F. ....Yes that is a big drop but we are getting closer to the first day of Winter.
The 21st of December is that day.
Stay Warm and Safe. ....

Here in the desert the weather gurus say it's mostly sunny! I disagree. The sky is almost completely grey with a few bright spots. The sun is filtering through enough to produce shadows, so I guess that's the mostly sunny part. There is little to no wind and the humidity is at 11 %. The high today is predicted to be 72. Just as I type this, it's getting brighter outside with a few blue patches. No rain in the forecast. Stay safe..... Jim

..New Day and more adventures, currently clear sky at 30°F.
Yesterday I was able to get all my outdoor projects finished for this year. Yes, I still have more 'honey do's' that list will never end. I love my wife dearly and she is a real gem.
Today it's going to be sunny and clear. High of 43°F
Low of 23° and still no snow.
Staying in the Game for now.....

Here in Vt. we had a stalled-out front kept persistent snow showers around throughout today (Wednesday). The front will finally be on the move southward as we go through the evening and overnight hours, so the snow showers will come to an end and the skies will be clearing. It will be cold, though, in spots by Thursday morning, especially up toward the Northeast Kingdom (near the Canadian Border) and Northern New Hampshire.
Sunshine will abound on Thursday, but the temps will start on the chilly side. That will change as we get into the day on Friday. Most places will warm up into the low-to-mid 40's °F under a mix of sun & clouds.
There will be more clouds than sunshine over the weekend, but it will stay dry with temps staying above normal.
Then............... all eyes will be on yet another Monday storm system. This latest potentially strong storm system looks like it will bring primarily rain & wind on Monday; but ending up with some snow Monday night into Tuesday. It will be blustery on Tuesday as the storm departs.
It is still much too soon to narrow down any specifics on that storm system.
(off topic, my sled is getting restless)

Friday 12/15/23
Finally Friday and currently I have an overcast sky with 29°F. Nice day yesterday with sunshine and lots of blue sky.
The wind was a little chilly at times. No Ryde time for me, maybe get a little chance today.
So far we haven't seen any of the seasonal snow, but I know it's coming.
December 21st is the first day of Winter here in Indiana.
Today is going to be about the same as yesterday.
High today of 53°F with sunshine and some wind.
Low of 36°F and no rain for now.

Currently it's 71 here in the desert. The high today is forecast to be 75 but we usually exceed expectations. She skies are blue, the breeze is very light and the humidity is currently 21%. The overnight low will be 50 degrees. Looks like we'll have high 70s temperatures for the weekend. The weather we're having now is the reason so many from colder areas come to the desert in the winter. Lots of outdoor activities to be enjoyed. I expect my usual Friday car show will be very well attended today. Leaving for it in about an hour in the little Mustang, top down, of course! Stay safe..... Jim

Currently it is 40 degrees here in Vermont. After a almost SPRING like day today, temps will be coming down a notch to start the weekend on Saturday, which will start out with a lot of clouds, but then turn partly sunny as we get into the afternoon.
Sunday will start out dry but cloudy. Then.................... Get ready! Here we go again. Another strong storm system will be moving in during Sunday afternoon with rain showers. The rain will turn heavier & steadier as we go through the overnight hours. Also, winds will be picking up out of the SSE.
The storm will be just right on top of us here in the Northeast on Monday morning. Unlike the last several Sunday/Monday storms which had a lot of heavy wet snow, this storm will be mainly rainstorm. The Monday morning commute will be challenging and slow, but from heavy downpours and windy conditions rather than snowy roads.
There could be some minor flooding by the end of the day on Monday as this storm system could drop anywhere from 1" to 2" of rain or more. Also, the temps jumping into the 50's for highs on Monday, Snow melt form the mountains could add to any minor flooding woes.
Temps will take a sharp drop on Monday nigh as the storm starts to move out. That will freeze up some untreated roads and walkways by Tuesday morning and leave some slick spots. Also, any lingering rain showers will change to a few snow showers, but they won't amount to much.
After that, there will be a nice stretch of weather for the rest of the week with a good deal of sunshine and temps near normal for this time of the year.
Merry Christmas to All!
Stay safe, and healthy!

The current temp is 34 degrees here in Vermont.
A flood watch has been issued Dec 16th @ 3:27PM until Dec 18th at 4:00PM EST.
Heavy rain may fall on a deep primed snowpack leading to the melt increasing. Flows in rivers may increase quickly and reach critical levels.
Flood watch in effect late Sunday night through Tuesday morning.
What............ Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt is possible.
Where........... Portions of Northern New York and all of Central and Northern Vermont including the Northeast Kingdom( near the Canadian Border)
When............ From late Sunday night through Tuesday morning.
Impacts........... Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks.
Additional details......... Widespread rain fall amounts of 1-2 inches will locally higher amounts on the eastern upslope locations along the Green and Adirondacks Mountains is expected. In addition, significant snow melt is expected Sunday and Monday given near record temps and strong winds. The combination of rainfall and snow melt is expected to bring area rivers into minor flood stage with some rivers possibly approaching moderate flood stage.
They also issued a High Wind Watch for parts of Vermont from Late Sunday night through Monday afternoon.
Impacts.... Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines.
Scattered power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
Additional Details.... The strongest winds are expected to occur between 3 AM to 11 AM EST especially along the western slopes of the Green Mountains.
Sundays and Monday temps are forecasted to be in the 40's/50's.

I don't care what the weather reports say it is, and I don't care if it is in the wrong month...........
I been through enough tropical storms to know one when I see one. What we got going on in the south-east is a tropical storm.
It came out of the Gulf of Mexico, it is swirling around, it is 500 miles wide, and it is full of rain and wind.
They can say it ain't, they can call it a no name storm if they want to, it is a tropical storm.
Anybody says it ain't, don't know much about tropical storms. I am not a weather man, but I have lived in the tropics and sub-tropics all my life.

Tend to agree, certainly not a typical few rainy days.
But, in a few minutes it will be past SoFlo on its way to the folks up North. With a tad of luck, it should be a nice mid 70s day, with sunshine. Headed out for a bunch of miles pedaling in the woods on my Moots off road bicycle. Maybe tonight can be a local Christmas lights night ride on the RTS.

Currently 65 here in the desert. Very light breeze with the humidity at 16%. The sky is blue with a few high thin clouds. Today's forecast high is 78 and the overnight low will be 55. Very enjoyable weather for December. Saw parts of a football game being played in Miami yesterday. I agree with Gwolf. Sure looked like a tropical storm to me too. Stay safe..... Jim

The current temp is 45 degrees, and it is still raining.
Here we go AGAIN in Vermont!
Several of the Vermont towns and roads are flooded due to the rain and the melting snowpack.
This morning several of the Vermont Schools had to close due to the flooding. Also, some of the towns requested the residents to evacuate; while others told residents to have their personal bags ready and their cars loaded in case they had to evacuate and move to higher ground.
Some of the cities opened up shelters (the shelters were opened up by the Red Cross) for people to go to when they were evacuated. They temporarily closed a store in my area due to flooding.
Vermont does not need this AGAIN!
It was like July in December on this Monday......... But not all in a good way. The powerful storm system that came up the east coast hammered us with way too much rain. Combined with record high temps in the 50's and 60's, which melted a lot of the snow already on the ground, we ended up with a widespread flooding issues- not what anyone wants this week before Christmas.
The storm will be quickly moving out during the evening hours and taking the last of the rain along with it. Then the second part of the storm will swing through as we get into the day on Tuesday. That part of the storm is much weaker, but it has colder air with a few snow showers. And snow will only amount to a dusting to around 3" in some of the higher elevations by the end of Tuesday.
After that, we are looking at a nice stretch of weather that is going to last right through Christmas. Each day for the rest of the week and through the weekend will feature lots of sunshine and near normal temps, it will just be a little colder than normal for that first day of winter on Thursday and also on Friday. Then temps rebound as we get into the holiday weekend.
And it looks like we will finally break that pattern of getting a big storm system every Sunday and Monday like we have the last 4 weeks. This time around, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are looking just fine.
I am safe and OK.
Deanna

It's grey and cold (for us) today here in the desert. Currently the temperature is 63 and we're having very light sprinkles. Enough to make spots on the windows but not enough to make the street look wet. Today's high will get to 73. We should see some sunshine this afternoon. It looks like we'll have this same weather for the next couple of days. Then Friday the weather gurus are predicting a very wet day. Saw news reports of that ugly storm in the NE. Y'all stay safe! ..... Jim

Currently the temp is 28 degrees, and mostly cloudy.
As we dry out and cool down, flood waters will continue to recede. The few snow showers that were scattered about during the day will come to an end and will be clearing as we go through the overnight hours. We'll keep those clear skies going with a lot of sunshine through most of the day on Wednesday - the last full day of fall. A week cold front dropping down from the north late in the day will kick up some clouds with just slight chance of a few flurries.
That cold front will chill us down for the first day of winter on Thursday, even though there will be lots of sunshine. Thursday night will be particularly cold with lot of places dropping into the single digits by Friday morning. More cool sunshine is on tap for Friday.
Temps will rebound as we get into the weekend. A weak disturbance on Saturday may scatter just a few snow showers. Otherwise, it will stay dry with warmer than average temps right through Christmas Day.
***** They still have flood warnings out. The current flood warning was issued on December 19th @ 12:39 PMEST until Dec. 20th @ 8:23 AM EST.
Forecast flooding changed from Moderate to Major severity and increased in the duration for the following rivers in Vermont.......Winooski River at Essex Junction in Chittenden County.
Flood Warning now in effect until Tomorrow Morning....
What.......... Major flooding is occurring, and major flooding is forecast.
Where...... Winooski River at Essex Junction
When....... Until Tomorrow Morning.
Last night in my area they closed a bridge due to flooding.
There are several roads are closed due to flooding. ******
I am safe!
Merry Christmas to everyone!

...Well folks this month has had the coldest temperatures and the warmest for an Indiana for a handful of years. Currently we have overcast sky and 29°F. Today we will have a little bit of a warm up. High of 47°F with sunshine and lots of blue sky.
Low down to 28°F. You got to love it.

The current temp in Vermont is 30 degrees, and mostly cloudy.
We will be continuing our stretch of much-needed dry weather in the wake of the recent flooding.
A weak cold front will be dropping down from the north during the first part of the night. It will kick up some clouds and there will be just a slight chance for a few flurries. Once that front clears the area down to my south (southern part of Vermont), skies will clear out again for the rest of the overnight. But we be in a colder batch of air. Despite lots of sunshine on Thursday, temps will come up shy of normal by 5 or more degrees.
Winter will officially begin at 10:27 PM EST when the winter solstice occurs.
Thursday night/Friday morning will be particularly cold lows in the single digits and low teens.
It will continue to stay colder than normal for Friday, even though there will, again be lots of sunshine.
Temps will be moderating over the weekend, getting back into the 30's for highs on Saturday, then upper 30's and low 40's by Christmas Eve on Sunday. A weak disturbance may bring just a few snow showers late Saturday into early Sunday.
Santa may need to replace the snow runners on his sleigh with wheels as it does not look like a white Christmas for most of us. And temps will be in the low-to-mid 40's for highs.
After that, temps will be staying mild, and a frontal system will bring the chance for more December rain showers late Tuesday into Wednesday.
**** We don't have any more flood or high wind warnings as of today (12/20/2023).
Merry Christmas to everyone!
Stay healthy and safe everyone!
(off topic, my sled is getting restless)!
