So I decided to hook up my Pico-scope to get some waveforms and save them for reference; looked at the wiring diagram but can't find the "caps" cam sensor. Code P0340 says it's pin D4, but to my surprise, my 2022 has no wire in D4! I went to the engine and there is no cam sensor!!! So, one less problem to deal with. But that means you can't fire coils in direct mode, only waste spark. Exactly 2 sparks in 720°. The bad thing will be that we're not able to diagnose any cam and crank correlation....

Reason: Expanded title to briefly state the reason for this thread! ;-)
The 1330 had cam sensors through the 2022 models. At least that's what the parts fisch shows. Rotax dropped them for the 2023 models. Curious, to be sure.
Okay the Blue trace is CPS and the Red trace must be coil primary to ECM. I've proposed earlier ECMs using the MAP signal when the CAPS fails but now I'm thinking they are actually shifting into wasted-spark mode. And the new ECMS are always in that mode. An improvement. Thanks for posting waveforms.
