Have Forum postings slowed down ???
Boy, lately the traffic on this site has really slowed down. What might be the most likely reason? Is everyone too busy, are members getting bored with the site, or is it as I think, the newness of Spyders in the m/c world has worn off and all things Spyder have matured to the point where there just isn't as much new and strange stuff to converse about.

Could be. In any case just because postings have slowed down that is no indication of the forum losing value. Newer members can benefit from the great archive of experiences and knowledge that have been shared.

I dunno, we're still getting a bunch of new members signing on most days, and it seems as tho many of those are pretty quickly hitting the boards & actively checking things out - plus, if you look at the 'Active Users' info on the Forum's main index page regularly, the numbers generally show up over 100 members on the boards for most of your daylight & evening hours, frequently with 2-3,000 or more guests actively checking things out too.
So the 'slower posting' you're concerned about might just be a perception; or possibly it's the newness thing you mentioned, meaning there's fewer of the basic knowledge questions (cos they've already found that in earlier threads); or maybe it is that it's starting to get colder over your way, so people aren't riding so much as putting their Spyders/Rykers into hibernation and preparing for their coming winter activities. I'd surmise that it's most likely that more of the members (New & Old) are searching for, finding, and reading the existing threads & info already posted here and so not necessarily up to asking any more questions just yet.
And then there's the 'other' sort of social media sites that tend to get responses a whole lot quicker than Fora generally do taking some prospective members - altho it's noticeable that a fair percentage of our 'new members' are people who've tried them but were not satisfied with the responses they get on those sorta 'instant gratification' sites &/or the way things get swamped & lost very quickly on them; or they're 'former members' returning after some time away for whatever reason, often including those same reasons!
But really, I think it's pretty much a 'swings and round-abouts' thing - sometimes it's busy, sometimes it's not, but generally, it evens out in the long run.... If you dig back thru the historical threads, there've been similar concerns raised before, quite often in fact, even if not quite seasonally.

Our site is not dead, dying or thinking about going away. There are fast days, and there are slow days.
I am also thinking that the happenings in the Middle East are now on a lot of peoples minds and a distraction to many.
Check back in a year, I bet we will still be going strong.
Here is a little something to liven up your day.

I check the site once or twice a day but am more of a lurker rather than a poster. I am shipping my Spyder back east this weekend and will be moving in the next month or so. Want to get it shipped while the weather is cooperative.

I check this site and post on this site when I can.
For me here in Vermont, I am getting the ready for hibernation. Plus, I am busy doing other things.
I will also be doing my first oil/filter change, and putting in fuel stabilizer in the gas tank, then putting it on a battery maintainer until April 2024. Also, I'll be taking the for it's last ride for the season 2023.
( off topic:I will also be getting the snowmobile ready for the season).

I'm slowly down due to wx. I still have to do my 1st oil change soon, then I'll probably lay it up for awhile. Right now I'm getting my RV ready for Winter. For me Winter means I'll be playing Ham radio a lot. Its good to have hobbies.

You also have some old farts like myself who enjoy looking at the site but don't have a lot to share. Being new to the spyder world I do enjoy reading about different things. I have noticed that as a whole everyone is polite even when a newbie like myself asks a really dumb question. I have a 2011 RT-S and know that at some point I will need to buy a newer model with the larger engine and 6 speed transmission. But for now the old boy is doing good and I will probably keep it for awhile.

Don't sell the 998 short. Ridden as designed, it definitely holds its own. The 1330 basically takes care of business in a more relaxed manor and less emotion. And BRP has made other improvements in later models besides the motor. Still, a 2011 RT is a great ride!

You have me beat by about 9 months coming to the site. Remember the morning "coffee klatch" group?
