My new windshield from Gustafson came today and when installing it, I found that two of the metal sleeves in the rubber bushings for the windshield holes were too small for the bolts to pass through. The other two were ok. I have left a message with Gustafson but don’t expect a reply till Monday.
I looked at the JRock shield I’m replacing, and it just has the rubber bushings without any metal sleeve, so I’m not sure I really need them. I installed it anyway and will drive it. What do you think?
I would use them if I were you, there used as a limiter bushing, so you don't put too much pressure on the windscreen and cause a crack. Just my thoughts!
I wouldn't go without them either. I would be afraid of what might happen as a result in the future. Can you get a round file in there and remove enough material for the bolt to pass?
It depends on the windshield.
The direction should tell you what to do if not, call them.
I recently replaced my 8 year old shield with a Freedom from Lamonster.
The Directions EXLICITLY state: Do NOT use spacers, rubber gaskets or screws and to discard them
They supply new "washers" and screws. Problem was leaving the correct space for molding.
I overly tightened and then backed off slowly until molding fit.
Has worked fine over the last several thousand miles.

My two round files were too big to fit. I tried to drill them out but wasn’t having any success. Since two did fit, I’m sure they will be sending me some more and hopefully I’ll get a fit for the other two.

As a final follow up, Gustafson's came through and sent me some replacement sleeves. They fit and windshield is now securely attached. Thanks for your input.IMG_1911.jpg
