    Default Coolant type

My apologies.im sure there is already a thread on this.i just can't seem to find it.
Do I need to stick with the BRP coolant, or can I use a generic ethylene glycol coolant that specifies that its good for aluminum and all metals[IMG]uploadfromtaptalk1454864975106.jpg[IMG]

    Default COOLANT

...I am sticking with the BRP..( I have to use the new Orange stuff )..... ( with billybovine ) your anti-freeze is the more common type .......Also I think it lasts at least twice as long as they claim if not longer........Unless you leave it out in sub-freezing weather .....................jmho......Mike

Yes. Since yours is a 2012. A good quality jug of the green stuff will work just fine.

Be careful not to mix different color/types of anti freeze, it will coagulate and do a lot of damage. if you are replacing the coolant be sure to flush the radiator and all lines at least three times with clear water. if you are just adding some, use the BRP type that is in there now.

If you do get the BRP stuff. Make sure you get the right kind as you can gather by the other posts BRP has 2 types. They cannot be mixed.

If you stick with the BRP brand, (and i recommend it) be sure that it is the same color as the coolant that is currently in your spyder.

have always used this stuff with great results in all my bikes...the local speed shop that did all my work over the years only uses it.
mail order is like $14 per half-gallon bottle.

What aftermarket make can be added to the 1330 orange/red stuff? I'm not sure that just any "orange/red" will do and don't want to get into situation where I have to have it all drained and flushed.

I just want a little to top off.............

As long as It's compatible for aluminum can use whatever.
Don't beleive all the crap or use brp.

    Money making scheme.

Antifreeze and oil have been around longer than BRP

................I haven't heard of any alternative to this type yet.......It would be expensive for a full change ( not with flush ) but I believe it lasts 3 times as long as they claim...sooooooooooooo.......Mike

To top it off with a small amount, just add distilled water.

I have plans to drain and flush ours from the 14 RTs.

Plan to use USA made Peak brand and this is the stuff with distilled water.

Wanted to add, the color of the Peak anti freeze I mentioned is Flourescent Yellow. Not pink nor green and if a leak does occur should be visible with a black light.

I don't change my antifreeeze until I know it won't work like it should. I use an antifreeze tester to check it 2-3 times a year. they cost about $4 on amazon or the same a walmart

Does your antifreeze tester check the ph??? That is just as important as the freeze/boiling points of any coolant especially in the all aluminum environment...

    Oh no

Was looking to flush mine and it’s been 9 years.

Can’t seem to find the capacity on a STS though.

I thought I read that you can use Dex-cool in the newer bikes. If anyone knows for sure, let us know. Thanx!!
