One armed ryder needs comms - any suggestions?
.
My friend has the use of his left arm only ( Right is there but not working). HE CAN RYDE JUST FINE. We are looking for a communication system/method as he often leads and I ryde sweep. He has a foot throttle( pretty neat) and his left hand is pretty busy with steering and shifting. I thought a phone ( which he always carries) mounted on the bars with bluetooth earbuds would work BUT still involves removing his steering, shifting hand from the bars. He understandably is uncomfortable with that.
I believe that he doesn't want a Sena like system for him and his wife.
Any suggestions are most welcome,
Lew L

Reason: Removed Prefix - this is a 'What should I use?' question not a 'How To: DIY' guide. ;-)

The Sena like System is the system that will actually work best.
Once turned on and paired to the other send/receive unit(s), the channel can be left open. All that is needed to activate is for someone to start talking. Instant, hands free, communicatoion between units.
I have tried all of the main systems out there in the last 12 years or so. Now on our third set of senas. Currently Bell Magnum/w built in Sena units. just my .02.
Currently Owned: 2019 F3 Limited, 2020 F3 Limited: SOLD BOTH LIMITEDS in October of 2023.
Previously : 2008 GS-SM5 (silver), 2009 RS-SE5 (red), 2010 RT-S Premier Editon #474 (black) 2011 RT A&C SE5 (magnesium) 2014 RTS-SE6 (yellow)
MY FINAL TALLY: 7 Spyders, 15 years, 205,500 miles
IT HAS BEEN A LONG, WONDERFUL, AND FUN RIDE.

How about a Voice Activated Mike setup like you get in Helos and stuff?
Thinking further, or a foot operated push to talk switch, for the other foot thats not on the throttle.

I still have my first Sena and is 100% reliable 100% of the time.

Good work Lew. Perhaps with the newer Sena units the group could all connect thru a mesh.

Us too. Too reliable and simple to replace. Trying to get communication from road cap to the sweep.
