Shout out to Monster Fuel Injection.
I received the brain back today and installed it back on the bike. Wow
.what a difference a stage 2 tune makes!! Almost too much power. LOL
Kudos to Monster Fuel Injection!

What is your exhaust set-up? What are your thoughts on going with a Stage 2 and keeping the stock muffler, but having a cat delete (RSL's with the resonator)?
How much did you pay? If you don't mind.

I have a Lamonster cat delete pipe with baffle installed. I’m running the stock muffler until the Akrapovic Sinister muffler shows up. I also have a K&N air filter installed. Price in Canada is CAD$550 plus tax and shipping.

They have a 2 day turn around and shipping time..fun times to be had. can't wait to see how it reacts to the K&N filter. It does feel like it's getting stronger. I have the Akra Sinister pipe with RLS cat delete and the bottom end you lose with the cat delete is gained back and some with the stage 2 tune.

You can get the MyGenius handheld tuner device from Monster. They provide the tunes and you can load them yourself. No need to remove and ship the ECU. Takes about 5 minutes or so to change them.

Better check but I think the handhelds are for late models only.

MyGenius is $350.00 Works with 2017 to 2020 models. (may very well work with 2021 but that's what their website says.)

$350 + the costs of the maps.

The air filter cover is modified by Wick-it to allow better air flow to the engine. I wouldn't call it extensive as it's just 2 1" holes in the cover..

I've noticed that quite a few people on this forum are using 87 octane fuel rather than the recommended higher octane. Is this true also for those who have done the ECU flash? I notice Monster specifies 91 octane;
"Fuel Octane: Requires 91 octane pump fuel. 93 - 94+ pump fuel can be used and will see automatic benefits as the
ecu will self adjust. (ecu is very dynamic with well implemented use of oxygen sensors and knock sensors)
Note: 89 or 87 can be used in an emergency. If used, stay below 50% grip throttle and don't lug engine in a high gear
with low rpm. Keep engine rpms higher (5000+rpm) only using low gears. The throttle opening should never outpace
engine rpm (load engine). Cycle fuel tank before riding normal again.
Always use 91+ on stage 2 setups."

Monster FI modified the air box lid by drilling two one inch holes.

Once you get either the stage 1/2 flash or PV map/tune, it should be 91+ octane all the time. In addition to fueling tables, new maps also change timing tables too...

87 octane will ping on a stock byke in higher RPMs. You should really only run min 91 octane although some people do run low grade. definitely min 91 with a tune whether stage 1 or 2. I got some bad gas on my last fillup and noticed my spyder reacting to it. Sucks I didn't see it until after putting the nozzle in the tank and seeing it pour in. The byke ran fine, but I could feel the computer adjusting. I typically only run 93.

With a ECU flash?

I carry a small bottle of octane boost on my spyder all the time. If I accidentally get a tank of crappy fuel I can add the bottle of octane boost. Helps to stop that pinging. You can find that stuff on the counter of just about any motorcycle store.

RobDekker and Bottomline2000 -- apologies for my confusion but is the two 1" holes modification done to the air filter cover (which has 3 screws) or the primary air intake silencer? And Wick-It says the air box modification is for Stage 2 while Monster says both stages and they are different -- can you speak to that? Thanks. PS I'm liking the Stage 1 charts -- will be running stock exhaust system as heat and weight are not an issue and it keeps the neighbors happy.

Yes to the cover.
