Still ryding in New York?
Had some time today and headed out in the Lower Hudson Valley area. Boy did it get chilly on the way back home once that sun went down. Anyone else in the NY northern NJ area still ryding?
IT IS, WHAT IT IS...

We put ours away when the salt goes on the roads.

NY doesn’t use salt? They use some white brine crazy liquid that they call salt but the normal person calls acid. It eats everything. I was just in western NY yesterday. My darn truck is all white now from the rain water sitting on the road. The nice thing is in PA we use sand early on so yes we’ve had about 9 inches of snow but after all the rain the roads are clean again. YES I AM RIDING MY SPYDER TO WORK TUESDAY.........52 AND SUNNY! Might just take a 30-40 mile detour on the way home.

Yes, VT uses the same thing. Eats everything metal. I don't understand why they can't just use sand. Would be better for all types of vehicles and better for the environment. They complain every year about the shortage of road salt and the price. STOP USING IT.

We use the same thing (brine) but it usually starts after Christmas or after the first major storm or when 90 starts getting iced over. Sand/salt to start then change to brine.

Rob, I agree! Back in the day, they used sand/gravel in the winter on the roads.

Here in Ontario they put brine down on the roads before the first snow... it apparently helps to prevent ice forming. I don't have the Green Goblin down for the winter but I never completely do... always a day here and there where the roads are clear and I can freak the neighbours out in my snowmobile suit
You can't get there from here....

Was out all day yesterday on two wheels. Beautiful day in NJ and Western PA. Low 50s and sunny. Did around 170 miles of dirt/gravel and paved.

Our Governor has earned the nickname, "Brine King", ever since he missed that major snowstorm last November. Since then, whenever the weather people hint at snow we have trucks brining the crap out the roads. Even with the slightest chance. He is way over-compensating for his earlier failures. Salt brine is everywhere.
Luckily we have not yet reached peaked brine state for the season.

Yup, beautiful yesterday. Tarrytown through Rockland/ Bear Mt. to Cold Spring to Kent then south home. My wife bough me some heated gear so I was ok. thumbnail_image1.jpg

Westchester/NYC area here. Still on the road—every chance I get!! With the proper gear, I’ve learned that I can extend my riding season a lot longer from what it used to be. Even went as far as adding hand guards—which MAY buy me another month or so? Who knows?! Either way, no plans of ending the season just yet.
