Front fender driving lights
I know of 2 different companies for driving lights for the front fenders. I am looking to research as many of them as I can before buying a set. Any ideas on which ones to buy?
Thank you,
Ray B.

I think those are the only two companies that make them, others sell there product's..
And maybe big bike accessories believe Lamonster sells there product.

Clearwater Darla are probably the best driving lights made.

I'm installing a pair using the inner, top front fender screw for mounting. I bought 3,000 lumen units for under $10 shipped from banggood.com. I don't do much night riding, but I wanted them for conspicuity - that's why I cheaped out. Yes, they are bright and have a fairly narrow beam. But if you want the best, as SpyderAnn1 sez, go with Clearwater's Darlas. I had them on my last bike - great lights.

I found a pair of 2" square cube lights at Autozone that they wanted $80 for. I Googled the mfg name, Alpena and got the same pair for $50. I just finished installing them last night. Be careful when buying lights for in inside the fenders that there's enough clearance between the lights and the body when the wheels are turned hard to either direction. I wanted the lights to light up the road as I'm turning in the twisties if I ever get caught out there at night. They really light up the road at night and are highly visible during the daytime also. Before you get started installing them, be sure to have enough heat-shrink tubing on hand and slip it over the wires BEFORE soldering the wires.

I have these from TricLED. They are exactly as advertised, very bright, easy to mount. However...
1) they are too bright for normal use. The product comes with a dimmer. I rarely turn them more than 1/2 up.
2) They aren't really focused into a beam. They are great for letting other traffic see you, but in my mind they don't do much to let you see more of the road.
3) The wiring instructions suggest you wire these to your battery or another always-on circuit and use the dimmer switch to cut them off. I found I accidentally left them on a lot, so I wired them to their own circuit with a horn relay attached to a dashboard light to cut them off. I also wired in a dashboard LED so I could gauge their brightness.
4) they attach to the insides of the fenders with a single screw. Initially I didn't have them tight enough so in time they sagged downwards. Problem fixed with a lockwasher.

We're wanting to light the roadway at night and that's important. I bought Denali lights for my K1200LT. Had the dealer install. So far so good. I used them at night on the freeways and they did light the roadway. However one night out in the desert near Quartzsite, AZ, driving at 85, I did not see the remnants of a truck tire. It came out from under my front wheel and hit the footpeg. Thankfully. It hurt for a week from the slap on the bottom of my riding boot. I think the lesson here is 1. don't drive hell for leather at night and 2. you cannot see tire remnants on the pavement even with expensive driving lights. Just my story.... (Oh, I slowed way down, got behind a car and have since driven a bit under the speed limit at night.) But I love the lights...maybe for deer crossing...

Thank you as I like the Denali lights myself. Looking for them mainly for extra visibility and all for the use in mountain riding like the Dragon and other curvy roads. These should help light the road while turning better than the stationary straight headlights.
Thank you,
Ray B.

As my MSF instructor would say. It's easy to outdrive your lights at night. With stock lights your maxed out at about 55 mph.

I have Fog/driving lights from ******* and they sure light up the road at night/and during the day.
My spyder is very well lite up , for safety reasons. I would rather be seen, then not seen at all.

Am looking at the Denali lights also. But I can't decide which to get the DR1 2.0, D2 2.0, DM 2.0 I like the fact that the DR1 have a 1000 ft range but am concerned about the weight on the fender mounting point. Any one have an answer for this problem? Would it be a problem to mount the DR1 due to it being the larger of the 3 choices?
Thanks
Joe

There are a number of questions to be asked before providing a meaningful response...
What are you trying to achieve with additional lights?
Why do you want to mount them on the fender?
Do you need a plug 'n play solution or are you okay with doing your own custom wiring?
How much are you willing to pay?

Like I said above I am wanting to put them on the inside of fender for going around corners in the mountains like the Dragon and so forth. As for installing them I will look at what is available.

I called Denali and talked with them and the 2.0 with the spot/flood is the one we agreed was the best for my application. I just haven't bought yet. I was wondering if any one else knnew of something else available other than the Tricled I have found also.
Thank you,
Ray B.
