Fifty years ago today
Fifty years ago the United States landed two men on the moon.
Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin went to the lunar surface and Mike Collins orbited the moon manning their flight back.
Yes, we went to the moon- several times.
It was spurred by a contest with the Russians and we won that one.
The lunar landing proved that we had the brain power, money and guts to achieve the goal.
If you are a denier, save your breath.
Here's a really cool video.

Man on the MOON
Yes, it was a big event. All the technology invested was simply amazing. There is a good DVD "Apollo 11" well worth watching. This DVD is a documentary film. I enjoyed watching it July 20, 2019 with some friends....

Would you please tell us your Mom's story again?
The astronauts might have been the "tip of the spear"; but she was part of that same spear, and is also a hero.
Gladly, because it is a story that was repeated thousands of times from towns and cities all across this country.
My mom worked for a small company that made fuel nozzles for GE jet engines.
She pressure tested them.
Someone at NASA decided these small jets could be adapted and used as course correction jets on the lunar lander.
My mother tested these under the watchful eye of several NASA execs.
During the powered decent of Apollo 11 my mother was a complete wreck.
She was so afraid that somehow the jets wouldn't work.
They did and Walter Cronkite didn't have to put up a picture of my mother with the caption "She screwed up the pressure test".
This little town in PA made something that helped make the journey possible and my mom handled some parts that are still on the moon today.
A story that was repeated thousands of times.
