Showed a couple of Harley's the power of a spyder
I was pulling out of a gas station and a couple of Harley's riders made a negative gesture about my Spyder. I pulled out and twisted the throttle hard and my back tire started to spin and squeel. I held the throttle open, grabbed another gear and kept the burnout going for about 200 feet, smoke rolling off the rear tire! It was crazy cool!!! The nanny never stepped in to stop me! The eyes on those Harley riders must have been huge! I know I was impressed.

You know how you can really impress a harley rider, not needing to go in for repairs.

They don't care about that. It's part of the "character".
-
Ok, how about showing them an accessory list totaling under $25k

Nah, riding like a fool is something they can understand easier - no brains required.
The best substitute for brains & knowledge is....................silence.

I fail to understand why some Harley riders hate spyders. Its not being a trike because they are OK with a traditional trike.

I don't understand why there is a need to prove that the Spyder is as good/better than any other motorcycle. Do Gold Wing riders feel the same way, I just enjoy the ride and acknowledge all the nods and waves from other riders.

Ok there maybe some bad apples, but I ride with Harley owners all the time. In fact I go to the local Harley dealer events a lot and have never had a problem. A lot of guys ask about my Spyder and I also ask about their ride. But I do know alot of them from PGR missions, CMA, and other local rides that are done in the area. I guess what I'm trying to say is don't paint all Harley owners as bad guys.

Well....
As long as you were impressed if they hate the spyder you will not impress them.

Some don't like that it's Canadian. This despite Harley is outsourced a great deal. I have found that some don't like women driving any motorcycle. Some only consider Harley a motorcycle.
Yesterday I was ryding home after a long day with the "girl-posse". I heard a Harley passing me on the left. Like the big tough byker girl that I am, I waggled my fingers at them, instead of the 2 finger salute, below the handle bars. The fellow waggled a 2 finger salute back, then I noticed he was the lead bike in a 30 bike long M.C. convoy.
All Harleys, but they didn't seem to care.

We go to several Bike Nights that are dominated by Harleys and we are well accepted .

I used to have a Valkyrie, and still had Harleys wanting to race. They think noise=horsepower!
I am very shocked since I got the Spyder, no negative comments at all and a lot of waves

Too bad you ran out of farkles. If you only had 1 left you could of gotten the ECU flashed and really put on a show.

I rode a Harley for 20 years before I bought the Spyder. Still have the Harley and giving it to my son. I don't care what you ride or how fast any of them go. I ride because I enjoy it. No matter how fast it goes, there is always something faster. Most all Harley riders are aware that just about any sport bike over about 750 cc is faster than the Harley. I would not burn 500 miles off of a back tire to prove it to them.

Burn outs are childishIMG_20190608_051152.jpg and then I remembered how fun they are.
Harley guys hated my goldwing and doing wheelies from the launch.
-
I love passing harleys on the interstate at 110. Haven't seen any that can pass me at that speed.
-
It was just one of those moments when I grabbed the throttle a little hard off the start, then decided to see how long the rear tire would spin. It put a huge smile on my face.
-
I occasionally get a little "attitude" from a Harley Rider. I just say, "Son, your just now old enough to ride a Spyder. When your lady won't ride with you any more, or you can't pick your bike up, then you'll be old enough." This usually just gets a smile. I not only love my Spyder, but I'm proud to be old enough and to still continue to ride. I also just like to...
Ride in comfort,
John

There are aholes in any group or demographic.
And I remember the testosterone charged arguments over the best car, Chevy, Ford or Dodge.
I recall there was a time in my life that I really thought crap like that mattered.
It doesn't.
I like the spyder and I know they're the training vehicles for the WalMart Scooters.
Frankly, if someone doesn't like it and even tells me about it, as has happened, I usually smile and say "thanks for your opinion it' certainly worth what I paid for it."

Joel, you kick ass bro. I do care enough to show a Charlie up every chance I get. You rock!

Yep, yep, yep.......nothing to do with “Harley riders” per se, and everything to do with “dickhead riders”, no matter what brand they are riding........and surprise, surprise, I have met a couple of Spyder riders who fit in the “dickhead rider” category

What is he trying to prove? Wow, the back tire spins.
I like some Harleys and there are some I don't. I like some Yamaha's, and some I don't. Same goes true for Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, BMW, Ducati and even the personally built customs.
If you don't like one of my bikes that's Okay because I may truthfully not like yours.
Ride what makes you happy and I'll do the same. If you want to ride together, that's cool. If not, that's okay too. I'll still respect the fact that we're both in the wind.
