2015 Spyder F3S vs 2011 Spyder RSS
Hi Guys,
My wife comes along with me as a passenger on the trips sometimes but doesn't find it comfortable or enjoying. She used to love riding with me on Vstar 950. Personally I love my RSS it has and does everything I need. So for you folks that ride two up and came from RS any thoughts ?
Now from technical side of things, I know people say it's more efficient and less maintenance but I don't find a big difference.
F3S more fuel efficient: but it uses premium fuel vs regular on my RSS 2011 so it kind of cancels the advantage. Where I am premium usually costs 15%-20% more.
F3S requires less maintenance: Besides longer interval oil changes what other advantages are there ? I know RSS requires valve adjustment but from everything I read and from talking to people who put lot of miles on RS none ever required a valve adjustment they simply paid a hefty bill to tell them it doesn't need an adjustment.
Is 2015 a good year to own ? if I make the switch I want to have the red frame so it seems 2015/2016 had that combination.

I have an F3S but can't compare it to the RSS since I have never ridden an RSS. However, I do know that someone will want to know what aspect your wife finds uncomfortable about riding with you on the RSS.

You can run regular in the RSS. But it will run better on premium fuel.

That would be a win-win but she never even rode a bicycle in her life, her riding is strictly on 4 wheels to and from work.

I think the manual states a 'Minimum Requirement'. The ECU compensates for the lower octane by retarding ignition when needed. You don't necessarily notice the difference. But performance will suffer when it does this.

My bike just got sold so I guess there is no more dilemma. I will miss my RSS almost broke into tears and i usually dont cry for anything. Hope is the right decision.

You did. Had an RSS and traded it for a 2015 F3s and its a world of difference. More power smoother ride just plain better! Course its only me as my bride don't ride anymore. I only have used the regular gas 87 oct. and no complaints.
