I missed out riding in January and February due to snow cover and ice. Hopefully by second half of March I'll get to go for a ride.

Ha Ha Ha, I have found the same thing. I rode in the cold for years with only layering and didn't get cold. I once rode from Utah to New Orleans and didn't get out of the snow until past Albuquerque. At 72 Not any more. I have electric gear now and have even used it in the morning in the Spring here in Utah. I too am thinking about the Snowbird thing. My RTL 2012 supports the electrics well.

Wish every Spyder rider could be here in Central Florida. 82 today and one of the mildest winters in years. I prefer 60 or above and am blessed not to have to be concerned most of the time. Hope Spring come soon for all you folks up North.

Some of you wrote that you won't ride when their is salt on the road. Are you concerned about salt on the road for fear of rust/corrosion, lack of traction, or both?

Rust and corrosion would be my only reason. When you have North of 25k into a bike. The last thing you want is problems with wiring corrosion and pitting parts, rust ect which wont be warrantied. Becomes an old ugly bike that's nobody will buy.

Used to ride any thing above 12F. As I have aged minimum temp has edged up. Now more like 35F AND clear roads.

I'm with you 100%. At 76, I want my riding to be a "treat" rather than a "treatment". This is my fun time, not a requirement. I want to....
Ride in comfort,

Went for a short ride yesterday. It was 54, sunny, and no wind. I was comfortable at 60 mph on the highway. Makes a big difference when the sun is warm. Today we’re having a blizzard, and not one from Dairy Queen.

Gotta love that changeable weather. Last time we went to Rapid City it was in May a couple years back. Had Spyder rentals from the dealer lined up. It snowed and we decided not to take Spyders on the Needles Hwy. etc. Not enough time for us to reschedule. We did it all in the cage that time.

New guy just giving my .02. I've ridden an St1100/1300 down to 19 degrees. Had a heated vest for a while but it didn't make much difference. Had heated grips on the 1300 - pretty worthless IMHO. Had some Widder heated gloves and those were great but they died after a few years and Widder was out of business. I suspect when I get a Spyder, I'll ride the same.
I find it amusing - my brother has an 05 Gold Wing and a full set of heated gear, but won't ride in the "cold" which for him is around 40-50. Where as without heated gear, I'll ride into the 20s. Guess I got more of that Canadian blood than he did.

When I've been on long trips I have been caught in temperatures in the 30's. No fun. Generally needs to crack 50 for me to enjoy the ride.
