Default Something to carry my dog in???

Ok so I have an Australian Sheppard that basically goes everywhere we do. I am wanting to take him along with us on some of our spyder trips and need something safe and comfortable for him to ride in. I have looked at some custom trailers, but was wondering if there was anything else out there that I may be missing. If my only options is a trailer, what are some of the best brands? Thank You in advance for your help...!

My little fella sits in the tank bag (modded an RSS tank bag to fit on top of the RT Glove Box) with his doggles & jacket on, & a harness that keeps him in place & off the ground should he fall:

    asset.jpg

but somehow I think the tank bag might not be an option for you?!? My fella, Max, weighs in at 5#'s dripping wet!! There is a mob out there who makes a 'Pet Palace' that'll strap onto the pillion seat, just can't recall the manufacturer atm. Someone else will remember, I'm sure!

    Good Luck!

We have a 30 lb cocker spaniel. I haven’t settled on a solution yet but the two trailers that seemed the best were the Bushtec Tow Tow and the WAGS trailer. Both are made to order. Prices start around $3500 and go up as you add options. That is one reason we haven’t bought yet. Takes anywhere from 6 weeks to three months, depending on manufacturer. Still looking for alternatives, although there aren’t a lot as we always ride two up.

Let us us know what you decide to do.

    Default Trailer

Those bags are to small for your dog.
You need a trailer or the Beastrider - http://www.beastriders.com/
Wags is the best IMO - http://www.wagstrailers.com/
There are several other ones out there as well.
I lucked out and found a used Ubilt dog trailer. It's in great condition and safe.
I've added 2 solar fans, LED's plus other stuff. One more mod to do then I'll call it good.
Haven't taken the dogs yet but it pulls good.
    Good luck on your search.

I’m in a similar situation. Little Wolf goes into the Pet Palace on SWMBO’s RT. I have to get the 20 pound Jack Russell mix into the back of my RT. The Beast Rider is the only thing out there made for the larger dogs.

If if you have an F3, look at the page for K9CanAm. He’s got a 40ish pound Bully that he built an expended rack and “crate” for. Quotes used because the crate is not closed. I keep bugging SWMBO, telling her that the F3 might be the better solution but she hasn’t released her hold on the check book yet.

Our little TinkerBell (five pounds of Pomeranian: 500 pounds of personality!); rides in an "Outward Hound" satchel. The Missus slings it across her chest, and Tink is ready to roll!

Well my Giant Schnauzers are too big for all of those. Guess they will just have to keep running along side for now.
    When they pass me I

    know I'm riding too slow!

Or, get a sidecar rig to haul the dog. Not as much fun for you but the dog gets a great view from the chair.

    Jack,
You could always throw a tow harness over their shoulders, and save money with "Schnauzer-Power"!

Great idea Bob. Also with the Harness I wouldn't have to call a tow truck. Just hook em up and head to the nearest dealer.

Only if he was that small, that would be ideal.

You need a trailer. There are a number of them on the market, with varying levels of quality and prices to match. I have a Kompact Kamp, but they stopped making them. You may find one used somewhere.

    Hey there!

It's awesome that you want to bring your Australian Shepherd along on your Spyder trips. They make such great travel companions! While custom trailers are a popular option, there are a few other solutions you might want to consider as well.

Dog Carriers for Motorcycles: Some companies make sturdy, well-ventilated carriers that can be mounted securely on a Spyder. Brands like Kuryakyn and Saddlemen have good options. These carriers often come with harness attachments to keep your pup safe.

Dog Motorcycle Seats: There are motorcycle seats designed specifically for dogs. Look into options from companies like Pillion Pooch or Outward Hound. These are usually smaller and might fit better depending on the size of your dog.

Dog Goggles and Harnesses: Regardless of the carrier or trailer, investing in dog goggles (doggles) and a secure, comfortable harness is a must. This ensures your pup's eyes are protected and they are safely strapped in.

If you decide to go with a trailer, here are some top brands to consider:

Aluma: Known for their durability and lightweight design.
Petego Comfort Wagon: Offers a spacious and comfortable ride for your pet.
K9 Koach: Designed specifically for canine passengers, providing ample ventilation and safety features.
Make sure to gradually get your dog accustomed to whichever option you choose. Start with short, stationary sessions and slowly work up to longer rides.

Good luck, and happy travels with your furry friend!
